The Ice Goddess - Hannelore Moore (with an e-book GIVEAWAY!)

4 Stars

ABOUT THE BOOK -
In the bitter winter of 1752, Evangeline Grey is determined to return to London, claim her inheritance, and lead a solitary, uneventful existence. York holds too many sad memories for her now, and she's ready to leave it behind.

When she finds out that her guardian has designs on her -- and her pending fortune -- Evangeline manages to escape, but her journey south is fraught with uncertainty and danger. Mourning the murder of her brother, still reeling from her aunt's recent death, and close to penniless until she finds her way back to London, she's never been more alone.

And then, on a desolate Northern English moor, she meets a benevolent stranger who changes everything.

Kendall Beaumont is a man running from a few demons of his own. On his way to his home in remote Almsborough, he stops to help the pretty, young runaway. The future seems fairly bleak for the both of them -- until he decides to make her an offer she can't refuse...

MY THOUGHTS -
Very nice and well written Historical romance! I love to feel like I am being transported back to a much earlier time and this book does just that. It felt very authentic and real to me. It almost had a Gothic feel to it, a little dark in places, which was not a bad thing!

The character development was excellent! I loved Evangeline and loved getting to know her. I really felt like I knew what was in her heart. Kendall, I wasn't too sure about at first but ended up loving him as well. My only problem with him is that he gave up too easily and I hate guys like that. I like a guy who fights for what and who he wants.

My only negatives were that it was a tad long and slow in spots. But once I got through the first half I almost read it straight through to the end!
There was also a sub-plot about Evangeline's brother that I did not find as interesting, and I didn't really like Emmett's character. So, If it weren't for those things I probably would have given it a 5! There were a couple steamy scenes but really not too graphic even for my eyes LOL. Actually I thought the romance was done very well! I also thought the ending was done very well. It ended just as I would have wanted it.

I think this new author has great potential! I would definitely read more by her in the future. I like her style!

Thank you Hannelore for sending me a copy of your book for my honest review (sorry it was so late).
