ABOUT THE BOOK -
In the aftermath of the Civil War, a young woman searches for her lost love at the edge of the West.

The Civil War has destroyed Sarah Montgomery’s marriage before it’s even begun.

After Sarah receives word that her fiancĂ©, Rand Campbell, has been killed fighting for the Union, her brothers and ailing father persuade her to pledge herself to Ben Croftner—despite her strong misgivings. But when Sarah finds out that Rand is in fact alive—and that Ben Croftner knew it—she indignantly breaks off the engagement and goes in search of Rand.

But Ben Croftner does not take rejection lightly—and a single woman with a sick father makes an easy target. When Sarah is abducted by her treacherous fiancĂ©, Rand finally comes to her aid . . . only to reveal that he has been posted at Fort Laramie, Wyoming, and intends to take her there as his wife.
But could Sarah leave her dying father’s side for the love of her life? And what plans are forming in the jealous heart of Ben Croftner?

MY THOUGHTS -
This story is part of a six book series and I will be reading and reviewing all six books. I was very excited to sign up for this/ I love to read series' and I love Colleen Coble.

This story was a very quick read (I read in one afternoon) - it was sweet and cute, but unfortunately not all that exciting for me. It was not bad, and I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series, but I do feel it could have been better.

The conversations I think is what did it for me. They didn't seem real, they were forced and fake. I didn't like either of the male characters and I am hoping that at least Rand will win me over in the next book.
I did  like the storyline, it was original and had some good twists to  it.
I felt like the ending was very rushed. I know this was a short story (90 pages) but maybe if she had added 25 more?
This book did get good reviews so far from amazon, so I know I am just being picky. I am hoping the next one will be better for me.

Thank you Litfuse for sending me this book for my honest review.
