A Deep Haven Novel
A beautiful blanket of snow may cover the quaint town of Deep Haven each winter, but it can't quite hide the wreckage of Noelle and Eli Hueston's marriage. After twenty-five years, they're contemplating divorce . . . just as soon as their youngest son graduates from high school. But then an accident erases part of Noelle's memory. Though her other injuries are minor, she doesn't remember Eli, their children, or the tragedy that has ripped their family apart. What's more, Noelle is shocked that her life has turned out nothing like she dreamed it would. As she tries to regain her memory and slowly steps into her role as a wife and mother, Eli helps her readjust to daily life with sometimes-hilarious, sometimes-heartwarming results. But can she fall in love again with a man she can't remember? Will their secrets destroy them . . . or has erasing the past given them a chance for a future?

This was my 5th book by this author! As always, Susan May Warren puts out a great suspenseful novel! I really liked this storyline a lot. I was hooked right away. Very sweet but "on-the-edge" story with a strong Christian message.
I don't know why, but I really like reading about people who loose their memory. I guess it just makes it more mysterious. I thought SMW did an excellent job using this idea! The whole thing was very believable, executed very well.
SMW, again, always has great character development - as did this book. I really got a feeling for the characters and their personalities. I liked Noelle and felt sorry for her and was also rooting for her to get her memory back (and what felt like her sanity).
There were some other under-lying storylines going that were just as interesting and important to the story. There was the murder/robbery that caused Noelle's memory loss. Noelle's son, being a cop, was investigating the incident, and swore to his family that he would "find the guy who did this". There was also the new budding relationship of the son and the daughter of a friend of their's. And last there is the failing marriage of Noelle and her estranged husband, Eli (love that name, by the way!). Will they find their way back to each other or are there too many secrets getting in the way. Why does Eli kind of hope that Noelle never gets her memory back?
My only regret is that this was an e-book, so I do not have a book to giveaway, sorry :-(

There seem to be a lot of memory stories out there right now, but this one sounds rather different and interesting to me because of the Christian aspects. I am going to have to keep my eyes open for this one when I can. Great review today!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Wendy! :) The last comment you left on my blog was TOOOOO funny! How's 2012 been so far? Hope all is well with you and your family!
ReplyDeleteI like the sound of this one. It doesn't sound at all predictable.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds really good to me. I really like books about people losing their memories too.
ReplyDeleteHow traumatic for Noelle's son to be the investigator initially. I have not read about Deep Haven or about an amnesia story, so both new to me to read! Was the family mentioned in previous stories and do they have friends that come alongside?

Lane Hill House -
ReplyDeleteThe is the 2nd Deep Haven book for me and I don't think any of the characters are the same that I remember.
Here's the review of the last one (I should have included this) -

ReplyDeleteI LOVED this book the characters were just awesome!
ReplyDeleteLane Hill House-I've read all of the Deep Haven books and the characters do have reoccurring roles in all the stories. But they are usually only minor character so you can read the books in any order!
