"The Witch Who Made Adjustments" is a humorous and deeply heartwarming fantasy novelette of a witch who may not be as "terrible" as she seems -- a witch who came into a turn-of-the-century town, just a few days before Halloween, and changed the lives of the entire populace, and especially young Tommy, a hardworking boy, and his impoverished family.  

ABOUT THE AUTHOR -

Vera Nazarian is arguably the only Armenian-Russian professional speculative fiction writer working in English today. She is an award-winning artist and a Nebula-nominated writer, active member of Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA). Her work has been translated into eight languages. Best known works are the novels Dreams of the Compass Rose and Lords of Rainbow.

MY REVIEW -

This was an absolute wonderfully delightful story to read! This was not what I expected - I am not sure exactly what I did expect, but it wasn't something as nice, and well written as this. It was fun, cute, and serious at the same time.

I thought the story flowed well. It did not feel rushed at all. For a short story (80 some pages) it had a definite beginning, middle and end, which is sometimes lacking in short stories. I liked the main character - "The Witch" and I also liked Tommy. I thought the connection between the two was very nicely done. 

One reader on Goodreads says -"Fun short story with a Nanny McPhee feel to it." I couldn't have said it better! It did feel a lot like Nanny McPhee! And I loved that movie.

The ending of this is excellent! It certainly makes the story, its like the whipped cream and cherry on top of an already great sundae!
