ABOUT THE AUTHORS -

Cynthia Ruchti tells stories hemmed in hope through her novels, novellas, devotions, and nonfiction, and through speaking for women’s events, retreats, writers’ conferences, and workshops. She draws from 33 years of experience writing and producing the 15-minute daily radio broadcast, “The Heartbeat of the Home.”

Ruchti’s more than thirty books have garnered reader, retailer, reviewer, and other industry awards. She serves as Professional Relations Liaison for American Christian Fiction Writers, is a founding board member of the Deliver Hope ministry and is part of the worship team at her church. She’s also a literary agent with Books & Such Literary Management.

Ruchti and her husband, Bill, live in the heart of Wisconsin, not far from their three children and six grandchildren.

MY THOUGHTS -

To say this book is amazing and may change my life and marriage forever is an understatement! Absolutely fabulous book! I have not finished the book yet, I am on chapter 7. This is not the kind of book that you just read through quickly and enjoy along the way. This is the kind of book where you read a page, you highlight a ton of stuff, you think about it, and you try to decide how you can apply this to your life. Yeah, I have done that on EVERY page! I have highlighted so much the whole book is practically a rainbow! :-)

"My man walked into the kitchen and said the six most magical words in the English language. No, not 'You are beautiful. I love you.' He said, "What can I do to help?"

~ Wait... what?? You mean there are men out there that do that??

My husband has the habit, and I’m pretty sure he does it on purpose although I don’t have any proof, of asking if I need any help two seconds before everything is all finished. Umm yeah honey, half an hour ago I could have used your help.

But... I learned I am not supposed to be snarky like that. Well I kinda knew that already. In the future I should actually give him a task!! YES!! Thank you for the permission! Even if it is something small. He can't read my mind. How is he supposed to know there are things that need to be done (even though he sees me washing dishes, sorry, no snark!) if I don't verbalize it? OK, so from now on - I'm verbalizing!

Wait! ... again, Your husband puts dishes in the dishwasher?? Oh my word. Can I just send my husband to the two of you for some Basic Training?

But seriously - this book is soooo good!!! It is intended for people whose spouse either works from home or is retiring. I think this would be a great book for anyone who has a spouse period! I think I am just going to read this whole book out loud to my husband. You know, like couples do sometimes with devotionals? It could actually get some great conversations going as well as help us be a better couple!

I highly, highly recommend this book, not if your marriage is struggling (but yes!), not only if your spouse works from home, and not only if your spouse plans on retiring, but I recommend this book for anyone who is married and just wants to improve your life together - who doesn't want that?

This book is fun (hilarious in parts) interesting, inspirational, informative, and so true to life. I found myself saying "YES!" out loud on almost every page.

Thank you both! Now can you pray my husband will allow me to read this to him??? :-)
