Spouse in the House by Cynthia Ruchti and Becky Melby - with a GIVEAWAY!!
A frank and funny look at what to do when together is too close
Two’s company, especially for those who love each other. So what happens when—due to retirement, working from home, or even running a business together—spouses find that being in the same space all the time is awkward, complex, annoying, and just plain challenging? How can partners coexist without co-exhausting each other?
Cynthia Ruchti and Becky Melby know all too well how adjusting to a new, all-the-time closeness can cause the bliss of marriage to form blisters. Drawing from their experiences, and from men and women across the country in the same situation, the authors take a deep breath and dive into the root causes. They dig into what God’s Word has to say, and they offer practical tips for learning the spiritual, emotional, relational, and even physical steps that can help readers replace irritation with peace.
For any couple who wants their home to be a refuge of peace and serenity for all—not just themselves—and who wants to know they aren't alone in the mental and physical claustrophobia of too much togetherness, Spouse in the House is a vulnerable, charming, and pragmatic breath of hope.

"My man walked into the kitchen and said the six most magical words in the English language. No, not 'You are beautiful. I love you.' He said, "What can I do to help?"
~ Wait... what?? You mean there are men out there that do that??My husband has the habit, and I’m pretty sure he does it on purpose although I don’t have any proof, of asking if I need any help two seconds before everything is all finished. Umm yeah honey, half an hour ago I could have used your help.
Wait! ... again, Your husband puts dishes in the dishwasher?? Oh my word. Can I just send my husband to the two of you for some Basic Training?
But seriously - this book is soooo good!!! It is intended for people whose spouse either works from home or is retiring. I think this would be a great book for anyone who has a spouse period! I think I am just going to read this whole book out loud to my husband. You know, like couples do sometimes with devotionals? It could actually get some great conversations going as well as help us be a better couple!
I highly, highly recommend this book, not if your marriage is struggling (but yes!), not only if your spouse works from home, and not only if your spouse plans on retiring, but I recommend this book for anyone who is married and just wants to improve your life together - who doesn't want that?
This book is fun (hilarious in parts) interesting, inspirational, informative, and so true to life. I found myself saying "YES!" out loud on almost every page.
Thank you both! Now can you pray my husband will allow me to read this to him??? :-)
