"Underworld" & "Awaken" - Meg Cabot
4 Stars!
ABOUT THE BOOK -
Seventeen-year-old Pierce Oliviera isn't dead.
Not this time.
But she is being held against her will in the dim, twilit world between heaven and hell, where the spirits of the deceased wait before embarking upon their final journey.
Her captor, John Hayden, claims it's for her own safety. Because not all the departed are dear. Some are so unhappy with where they ended up after leaving the Underworld, they've come back as Furies, intent on vengeance . . . on the one who sent them there and on the one whom he loves.
But while Pierce might be safe from the Furies in the Underworld, far worse dangers could be lurking for her there . . . and they might have more to do with its ruler than with his enemies.
And unless Pierce is careful, this time there'll be no escape.

ABOUT THE BOOK -
Death has her in his clutches. She doesn't want him to let go.
Seventeen-year-old Pierce
Oliviera knew by accepting the love of John Hayden, she'd be forced to
live forever in the one place she's always dreaded most: the Underworld.
The sacrifice seemed worth it, though, because it meant she could be
with the boy she loves.
But now her happiness -- and
safety -- are threatened, all because the Furies have discovered that
John has broken one of their strictest rules: He revived a human soul.
If the balance between life and
death isn't fixed, both the Underworld and Pierce's home back on earth
will be wiped away. But there's only one way to restore order. Someone
has to die.

MY REVIEW -
I loved this whole series! What great fun. Meg Cabot does such a great job developing the characters in her books. I know this series is over and I am looking forward to reading another series by Meg... but I am just not ready to say good-bye to Pierce, John, Alex and Kayla! Pierce is just so snarky, I love her!
If you are looking for a fun, semi-clean, paranormal book that isn't very "dark", these are just the thing for you.
Here are a few quotes for you -
Mt friend Jen gave me the first book in the series, I knew I was hooked so I bought the second one. Then Jen got me the third at BEA."Working on that?" He was still speaking into his hands."How are you working on that? You're a spoiled rich girl from Connecticut who died and came back to life a mental case. Everyone knows it. Now you've run off with you roid-head boyfriend. You're not exactly Nancy freaking Drew, all right?""What a klutz I am for letting that tree smack into my car and kill me!""Could you please not flirt with the dead people?" I hissed at her."The closest thing to a zombie is what any of you would be if you left this world and reentered your corpse after it had begun rotting." - eww"On my way back to life," he said. "I had to stop and pick up a few things, you know, such as my body, before I could rip you away from the arms of Thanatos.""Was I not suppose to kill him? I wondered about that, but I couldn't help it, he was such a jerk." - hahahaha I love that one!
