My Winter Song to You, by Laurel Osterkamp

 ABOUT THE BOOK -

Welcome to winter in Sugar Pine.

Morgan Bradley is coming home for the holidays—jobless, heartbroken, and clinging to the hope that she’s not completely washed up. Her Broadway dreams and her relationship with pop sensation Patrick Sterling have both gone cold. But Sugar Pine, Colorado, isn’t just where Morgan goes to heal. It’s where she finds a chance to save her family’s struggling theater—and maybe herself—by staging Bohemian Winter, the show she started writing years ago with her childhood best friend, Max.

Max Thompson has never stopped loving Morgan—or writing music for her. So when she walks back into his life with big dreams and a broken heart, he says yes. To the musical. To pretending they’re a couple in front of her famous ex. And maybe, secretly, to one last chance at something real.

But faking love has a way of making real feelings impossible to hide. As the snow falls and opening night nears, Morgan and Max must decide if they’re writing a story that ends on stage—or one that’s only just beginning.

MY THOUGHTS -

This isn't your typical "friends to lovers" trope. This was a "friends to lovers/ fake dating/ love triangle" trope! Actually, it wasn't even as simple as love triangle... more  like a love square! I have to admit, I do like the fake dating one the best.

They were trying so hard to stay "just friends" but their feelings kept getting in the way. Fake dating is bound to switch to real dating eventually... right? Either that, or just ruin everything!

All I kept thinking about while reading this book was pulling the petals off of a daisy. He loves me, he loves me not, he loves me, I love him, I love him not, I love him. This book was so back-and-forth, it almost drove me a little nuts... almost! Hmm, I think it may have been just the right amount of petal pulling.

I really liked the characters! Morgan aka Mork LOL. She was real to me. I liked her. I could have been her friend. Max, I really liked Max. I think he was my favorite. Which is different for me. I usually like the female MC best. And then you have the jerk ex. the author did a great job of making me not like him. And lastly, the insignificant other that Max was kind of seeing-ish.

I liked this one. It didn't thrill me, but I liked it. It kept my interest and I really did want to find out what was going to happen. I just think I'm more of a thriller/romantic suspense type person. Heavy on the suspense, light on the romance LOL. But this was definitely worth the read.
