Song of My Heart - Kim Vogel Sawyer

4 Stars!
ABOUT THE BOOK -
Sadie Wagner has always been devoted to her family. So when her stepfather is injured and can't work, she decides to leave home and accept a position as a clerk at the mercantile in Goldtree, Kansas. Goldtree also offers the opportunity to use her God-given singing talent--though the promised opera house is far different from what she imagined. With her family needing every cent she can provide, Sadie will do anything to keep her job.
Thad McKane comes to Goldtree at the request of the town council. The town has been plagued by bootlegging operations, and Thad believes he can find the culprit. After he earns enough money doing sheriff work, he wants to use it to pay for his training to become a minister.
Thad is immediately attracted to the beautiful singer who performs in Asa Baxter's unusual opera house, but when he hears her practicing bawdy tunes, he begins to wonder if she's far less innocent than she seems. And when Sadie appears to be part of the very crimes he's come to investigate, is there any hope the love blossoming between them will survive?

MY REVIEW -
I am a big fan of this Author - I love her books. I have read several others.
As usual Kim's books have a natural flow to them. I was never bored with this story. It was fun, romantic, took lots of twists and turns and was the perfect little Historical romance!
I always think Kim does a fabulous job with her characters. I loved Sadie (and I love that name!). She was sweet very trusting, devoted to her family, a little naive, but that made her more fun to read about. I also loved Melva and Shelva, the two older ladies Sadie ends up living with. They reminded me of the two Aunts in "James and the Giant Peach" (only both tall and skinny and much nicer). I loved how they were so protective of her and totally took her under their wing. Their brother - Asa reminded me of "Boss Hog" on "The Dukes of Hazard" LOL I kept picturing him. He seemed to have the same personality. I was always leery of Sid, Sadie's cousin, he just didn't seem "right" to me, I am glad he cam through for her in the end. And finally of course I loved Thad, the night in shining armor rides in to save the day!
There are a few turns that keep you guessing but...
I have always said I do not have to have it be unpredictable - I like my endings to end the way I like them. And this one did! Another great job Kim Vogel Sawyer!
This was a very clean, Christian Historical Fiction that anyone any age would enjoy.

Thank you thank you thank you - Litfuse and Bethany House for sending me this book to review.
