The Changing Season - Steven Manchester

4 Stars

ABOUT THE BOOK -
A remarkable coming-of-age story with special appeal to dog lovers.

This was supposed to be a simple summer for Billy; one more lazy expanse of time before college began. He’d fill the hours playing with Jimmy – his canine best buddy – going camping and doing all the things he promised Jimmy they’d do before Billy left.

But that was before the accident that shook the entire town.

It was before the summer job that turned into something so much more than a way to get a paycheck.

And it was before Vicki.

This summer was destined to be many things to Billy, things he didn’t truly understand until now. But it was definitely not going to be simple.

MY THOUGHTS -
You can always depend on a good book with lots of  lessons to be learned from Steve! This book started out a little slow for me and I wasn't sure where the plot was headed - but it did soon pick up. And the slower start gave you a chance to get to know the characters personalities better.

I loved the teenage banter back and forth between Billy and charlie - it was very typical and realistic. I also  loved the sweet and endearing way Billy talked to his dog as if he was another person. He often confided in him and shared his deepest thoughts (I think was a good way for us to see what Billy was thinking).
There a lot of decisions to be made in this book. Find out if the right ones are made!

This book was only a "like" for me, I wanted to love it but it just didn't have the same feel as his other books. I am not saying it was bad - hence the 4 stars, just not one of my favorites. It always seemed just a tad slow for me.

Thank you Steve for sending me this e-book copy for my honest review.
