Coffeehouse Angel, by Suzanne Selfors

5 Stars!
5 thumbs up for Suzanne Selfors! (well I had to borrow a couple people for that one)

About the book -
When Katrina spots a homeless guy sleeping in the alley behind her grandmother's coffee shop, she leaves him a cup of coffee, a bag of chocolate-covered coffee beans, and some pastries to tide him over, never expecting this random act of kindness to turn her life upside down. The adorable vagrant, Malcolm, is actually an angel on a break between missions, and now he won't leave until he can reward Katrina's selflessness by fulfilling her deepest desire. Fame and fortune seem like the obvious requests, but after two botched wishes, Malcolm knows Katrina is hiding something from him. But how can she tell him the truth, when her heart's desire has become Malcolm himself?

My Review -
This may just be the sweetest book I have ever read! This is basically a love story between an average coffeehouse girl and an Angel. This book is full of little surprises. It is not predictable at all, it kept me guessing all the way. I kept thinking that I had it all figured out , and around every corner - I was wrong! Suzanne Selfors does a great job developing the characters. She doesn't just make you feel like you know them, she makes you feel like you want to know them in real life. I loved the coffeehouse setting. I loved Katrina ("coffeehouse girl") and I LOVED Malcolm (the Angel). You can't help but fall in love with him. You know what I want more than anything? A sequel!
This book has it all - love, suspense, sadness, and magic (well you can't have Angels without a little magic). This is a very clean (no swearing, no sex, no violence) story that I would recommend to anyone (mainly female) over 15.

"Why do we drink coffee?
As kids we hate it. Its disgusting. But somewhere along the way we learn to accept the bitter flavor, even crave it. When does that happen exactly? I think it happens right around the time we realize that maybe nothing exceptional will ever come our way. That maybe we should just forget about Shirley Temples and Pineapple punch and limeade, throw away the festive paper umbrellas and the maraschino cherries, and settle for a mug of brown liquid."
