"Imaginary Jesus" by Matt Mikalatos
4 1/2 STARS

This was a surprisingly great book! It was a free download from B&N for my nook so I didn't know what to expect.
Have you been following the wrong Jesus all your life? In the book "Imaginary Jesus" Matt finds a lot of Imaginary Jesuses, there's "Magic 8 ball Jesus" (People pray to him and wait to see what answer they'll get), "Testosterone Jesus" (the men's retreat speaker), "Perpetually angry Jesus" (some people believe that God is always mad at humanity because the world is full of evil), "Classical Jesus" (honey-colored hair, skin like snow, equine face, blue eyes, white robe, one hand raised as if to knock), "King James Jesus" (he drives a hard bargain. It was centuries before he even allowed New King James Jesus to exist), "Bargain Jesus" (the Jesus who would always answer your prayers...for a price), "Liberal Social Services Jesus" (he thinks the best way to tell people about God is through service, but he never talks about God), and on and on.
"People invent a Jesus for one specific reason and then discard him when they don't need him anymore. "

What kinds of excuses do you come up with not to talk to God -
"You get in the car and turn on the radio. You take a book with you to the bathroom. You listen to your iPod while you do yard work. You watch television while you write on your blog at the same time. When exactly is Jesus suppose to have a conversation with you?"
I thought this book hit the nail right on the head. In a way it was a rude awakening! Definitely a worth while read, for anyone! And its free for the nook!

"Disaster Status" by Candace Calvert
4 STARS

This is the second in the "Mercy Hospital Series" I read and reviewed "Code Triage" the 3rd book (yes I am reading them backwards! LOL). I liked this book a lot. I loved the 3rd book more but was still very pleased with this one. I can't wait to read the first one! If you are a fan of medical drama, with a Christian twist (Gray's anatomy, House, ER, Chicago Hope, St. Elsewhere and the new Off the Map) you will love these books.

"Daughter of Joy" by Kathleen Morgan
4 1/2 STARS

I would have never read this book if it wasn't another freebie from B&N for nook. This was a wonderful book! Very christian oriented. It is set in the 1800's, my favorite time period. This is the first of a 4 book series. I have already put the other 3 on my wish list, and can't wait to read them. You are so very easily drawn into this book. I was hooked on page one. The characters are wonderful and I fell in love with them immediately. On the "Tear jerker Richter scale", it scored a 4 (I teared up 4 times). If you have been questioning if you should download this free nookbook, do not hesitate any longer, it is well worth the read!
