This is a Christian Chick-Lit type book. I liked it alot! Very simple, fast reading.I loved the Characters. I really ought to read more books like this.

Joan is living at home with Mom and looking after her aging grandmother. A hunky young doctor moves in next door. Suddenly Joan has a goal--to get a date. But it won't be easy. Pretty Tori flirts relentlessly with him and Joan is sure that she can't compete. But with a little help from God, Allie, and an enormous mutt with bad manners, maybe Joan can find her way out of this rut. Book 1 of the Sister-to-Sister series, Stuck in the Middle combines budding romance, spiritual searching, and a healthy dose of sibling rivalry.

Love in the Time of Cholera, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Did not finish!
I was not enjoying this book at all! Very slow, very boring, and that was just the first 20 pages! I should mention that this book got very mixed reviews, a lot of people loved it and it got lots of 5 Star ratings but it also got lots of 1 & 2 Star ratings. I would say that this book was not for me! Someone thought it was because it was a challenging book. NO! I like a good challenge, sometimes.  I love Virginia Woolf and she is discribed as one of the most challenging Authors to read. I didn't like it because it was soooo boring!

In their youth, Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza fall passionately in love. When Fermina eventually chooses to marry a wealthy, well-born doctor, Florentino is devastated, but he is a romantic. As he rises in his business career he whiles away the years in 622 affairs--yet he reserves his heart for Fermina. Her husband dies at last, and Florentino purposefully attends the funeral. Fifty years, nine months, and four days after he first declared his love for Fermina, he will do so again.

This is book 2 in the "Brides of Culdee Creek" series. I am loving this series!!!!!! This is a Christian Historical Fiction set in the 1890's. One of my favorite genres, so I am not surprised I love it! The ending was a bit unbelievable but I still liked it.
The character development is excellent! I feel like all the people are my friends and family, I love them! If I lived back in the 1800's (which is my dream) I would want to live on Culdee Creek Ranch. I can't wait to read #3 and 4.

Set in the late nineteenth century outside Colorado Springs, Colorado, this sequel to Daughter of Joy weaves an honest, emotive tale of one woman's struggle to accept redeeming love. Hannah Cutler, a former prostitute, is trying to begin her life anew. But she struggles with the notion of being loved, even by the Lord of love whom she recently accepted as her Savior.
Devlin MacKay adds to Hannah's feeling of shame by unjustly blaming her for his own guilty past. But as Hannah becomes a Woman of Grace, Devlin is forced to confront his feelings for her and toward the God who has transformed her life.

  1. I've tried reading Gabriel Garcia Marquez and he's just not for me. I want to like him because I feel like so many do, but I guess someone can't please all.

  3. Love these! Great reviews. I've been wanting to try Love in the Time of Chloera. I always recommend Chronicle of a Death Foretold for some quicker smaller GGM.
