Forgotten, By Cat Patrick (Review & Giveaway!)

5 STARS!!!!!

ABOUT THE BOOK (from B&N) -
Each night at precisely 4:33 am, while sixteen-year-old London Lane is asleep, her memory of that day is erased. In the morning, all she can "remember" are events from her future. London is used to relying on reminder notes and a trusted friend to get through the day, but things get complicated when a new boy at school enters the picture. Luke Henry is not someone you'd easily forget, yet try as she might, London can't find him in her memories of things to come.

When London starts experiencing disturbing flashbacks, or flash-forwards, as the case may be, she realizes it's time to learn about the past she keeps forgetting-before it destroys her future.

MY REVIEW -
LLOOVVEEDD this book! What a great idea for a book! Some people mentioned that it was a lot like "50 First Dates" well I love that movie, so I didn't have a problem with that. But the only way that it was like that movie was that she didn't know her boyfriend, and each day was like meeting him for the first time. Everything else was very original! I thought it was an ingenious idea for a story line.
"I remember forward.
I remember forward, and forget backward.
My memories, bad, boring, or good, haven't happened yet."

The character development was The best!  I almost felt like I was reading a series, I knew the characters that well! I loved London, what a sweet, strong, cute, heartfelt teenager she was. I can't even imagine what is was like to be her, but this book sure does paint a good picture into her life. Even the minor characters are developed well. You really felt like you were a part of this high school. I also loved Luke, the boyfriend, what a great guy! What he had to put up with and all that he did for her! Great little romance.

The author also does a great job of painting the scenery -
"I'm surprised to discover huge white flakes of snow drifting lazily from the sky. The snow blankets the courtyard like froth on the top of a perfect latte. Its beautiful and untouched, and it calms me."
Can't you just picture it, don't you feel like you are right there?

I am so excited about this new Author! I can't wait to read more from her in the future. Although she now has a tough act to follow, I don't know how her second book can get any better!
Cat - I am an instant fan!

  1. Great review, I love your point that London had to fall in love with Luke over and over every day-and she did.
Please enter me in the giveaway as I read a library copy and would love to own this.
My answer: I have to admit I would meddle with the future, just as London did with that one situation where the girl would have gotten hurt (I'm trying not to be spoilery!)
I can't tell you how many times I wished I had a crystal ball before I decided something.
    Thanks for the giveaway!

  2. Looking back there is one relationship that if I had known the outcome in advance I would have run - screaming all the way - for my life!!! Lessons were learned but I could have done without all the damage control that took years to repair.

  5. It's such a hard question to answer. Some situations you can learn so much from and grow so much from that it would be bad to skip them...even if they are painful. Others which are really just a waste of time (a bad movie, dead end job etc) I'd say skip away!!

  6. I would definitely stop and move on. It would be depressing to know that something wasn't going to work out. For me, hope is what keeps me going. So without that, I would have to stop whatever it is.

  11. Regarding relationships I tend to get very paranoid about it being "right." I have a hard time enjoying the moment because I am so focused on if it is going to work out in the future. I think if I knew what the future would hold, I couldn't help myself but meddle. I always tell my mom, I wish there was some kind of gaurentee... some way that I would know if David (my current boyfriend) and I will be together truly forever. If I had a glimps of the future would I have still entered the relationship knowing it wouldn't work? I honestly don't think I would have. I love David and we've had amazing times together, but I think if I went into the relationship knowing it would fail, the rest would just be pointless for me. In a way, tainted.

  12. I would just stop and go on to something else because there would be no point to continue something that was going to fail. It would be a waste of my time and possibly someone else's.

  15. I think I'd have to cut off whatever it was unless I really genuinely enjoyed it. Otherwise it's just a waste of time, you know?

  16. I would play it out. If you can see the future you should be able to see your mistakes. I think that the chance to change the future would keep me going.

  17. If I knew something wasn't going to work out, I would not bother pursuing it. Of course, then I would miss out on some life lessons.

  18. Given all of the Greek mythology that I had to read in high school I don't think I would try to change the future. Like Oedipus Rex the actions I take to avoid a situation may be the very same actions that lead me to the dreaded end result. So I think I would allow it to go it's course. Perhaps I needed to break up with my boyfriend so that I could dedicate time to my craft and become a crazy famous rich person. Who knows. :p

    Thanks for the giveaway!
