4 Stars!

ABOUT THE BOOK - Londoner Tilly Cole discovers the perils of smalltown life in Mansell's perfectly executed exemplar of fluff. After her live-in boyfriend does a runner, Tilly ditches London for Roxborough and a job as assistant to interior designer Max Dineen. Much of the town's gossip centers on handsome ladies' man Jack Lucas, and despite his almost irresistible charm, Tilly resolves not to be the latest notch on his bedpost. Meanwhile, gossip threatens to wreck Tilly's friend Erin when she's targeted by a jealous former friend and gets Max's ex-wife, Hollywood soap-opera star Kaye Dineen, hounded back to England. At the center, Tilly and Jack get into tangles, literally and figuratively, as they bounce toward their happy ending.

MY REVIEW - This book was a cute, sweet read. This story does not put you on the edge of your seat but it does entertain! There were really three story lines going on that intertwined with characters that are all friends. Mansell put together a great cast of characters. I pretty much liked everybody. I didn't really like Jack at first, I thought he was kind of a player but he came through in the end and I ended up liking him. My favorite was Lou (Louisa) she was a sweet, bright and very put together young teen. I could have read a whole book just about her!
There were only two things I didn't really care for - It was long (409 pages) I feel like it could have been shorter, it read long to me. Also, I continue to say this and I will still say it again - I really do not care for British Lit. even Brit. Chick-Lit, which is what this is. Even though I liked the story, I did not like the language. There were far too many "Right", "Bloody hell", and "Bugger"s for my liking, LOL. There were times I wasn't even sure I knew what they were talking about. They sometimes have totally different names for things. I wish I had an British to American dictionary.
A big plus for this book is the cover! I know, I know, what - a cover? I am a huge fan of covers! And this one is gorgeous! The picture does not do it justice. It has beautiful spring colors and all the butterflies are metallic so they shine! Pretty!

If you ARE a lover of British Chick-Lit you will probably love that I am giving my copy away!

  6. Oh, I have been looking for something lighter to start my fall with, so this might just be a great read for me. I actually do like British chick-lit a bit more than it's American cousin, so I would love the chance to be entered in your giveaway. Thanks for hosting it, and for the great and candid review!
