Set in New Orleans, among clusters of crack houses and abandoned buildings, Dirty Little Angels is the story of sixteen year old Hailey Trosclair. When the Trosclair family suffers a string of financial hardships and a miscarriage, Hailey finds herself looking to God to save her family. When her prayers go unanswered, Hailey puts her faith in Moses Watkins, a failed preacher and ex-con. Gradually, though, Moses’s twisted religious beliefs become increasingly more violent, and Hailey and Cyrus soon find themselves trapped in a world of danger and fear from which there may be no escape.

Very good, very sad, very dramatic book! Chris Tusa does not candy coat this story of poverty. This is quick read, but not an easy one to read if you are squeamish at raw honesty about hardship and family problems. You may start reading this book thinking - this is so unreal - but its really not! This is so real. He has written a fiction book so real it seems unreal! Good job Chris! So when's your next book?
Just don't do a search of this title on B&N, Yikes!
I won this book from the Author on Librarything.com

She Smells the Dead is the first book in the YA Paranormal Spirit Guide series by E.J. Stevens.
It's the beginning of senior year and Yuki's psychic awareness of ghostly spirits is threatening to ruin her life. Her ability to sense spirits of the dead isn't glamorous like the ghost hunting on television.
SHE SMELLS THE DEAD.
The smell impressions are becoming stronger. Yuki is being visited in her dreams, and she suspects that her friend Calvin is involved in something strange. To make matters worse her crush on Garrett is going unrequited, Yuki's friend Emma is on a rampage against bee oppression, and annoying Calvin Miller mysteriously disappears. Will Yuki be able to focus her powers in time to save the lost soul who is haunting her? Meanwhile, who will save Yuki from following the spirits into the light?

Cute book!!! I love Yuki and her friends. They are all so adorable. With all the "speaking to the dead" books out there, this one is kinda of different. I give the Author props for that. This is  a very quick and simple read. For teens, but I did enjoy it too!

Spirit Storm is the second book in the YA Paranormal Spirit Guide series by E.J. Stevens.
Spirits of the Dead are coming...
Yuki is about to face an army of lost souls on Samhain, the night of Halloween, when the spirits of the dead roam free. Yuki will need all the help she can get from her friends, but will Calvin be there for her when she needs him the most?

Just as cute as the first. OK I'm hooked! I won the third book of a book blog along with lots of cute goodies. I will show a nice picture next time. Can't wait to read the third!
