ABOUT THE BOOK - In FINDING FATHER CHRISTMAS, Miranda Carson's search for her father takes a turn she never expected when she finds herself in London with only a few feeble clues to who he might be. Unexpectedly welcomed into a family that doesn't recognize her, and whom she's quickly coming to love, she faces a terrible decision. Should she reveal her true identity and destroy their idyllic image of her father? Or should she carry the truth home with her to San Francisco and remain alone in this world? Whatever choice she makes during this London Christmas will forever change the future for both herself and the family she can't bear to leave.

MY REVIEW -
This was a very beautifully written book. It was a little slow in spots that's the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5, otherwise it was great.
My favorite thing about this book were the descriptions. The Author had an excellent way of really setting the scene or (painting a picture) as I like to say. For that reason alone I loved this book.
"I kept walking. Down the hill, around the corner, and past the ivy-covered chapel. I paused only a moment to have a look at the softly lit church with the arched entryway. It seemed to me as if the church were wearing her rambling cemetery like an appliqued blanket. The blanket tumbled from the foot of the rose bed and fell haphazardly over a hundred sleeping kernels of life, lives that had built the chapel, paved the roads, and taken tea beside many a soot-covered hearth."
She also does a great job with the character development. I loved Miranda (the main character) I felt as though I really knew her and how she felt. While she was telling of her past, my heart was break for her. And the whole time she was searching for her Father, I wanted so bad for her to be successful.
This takes place in England, and I have always said that I do not like British books. BUT... this one did not bother me at all! In fact there was this one scene that about sums it up -
" "Would it be alright if I use your restroom?"
"Our restroom? Do you need to have a rest?"
"Excuse me?"
"Were you asking if you might lie down to tap a nap?"
"No. I would like to use the restroom... the bathroom... I want to wash up."
"Oh, Of course, the WC. It's in the hallway to the right of the stairs"
"The what?"
"WC. Short for water closet, of course."
"Oh, thank you." I turned to go, wondering how it could be that though we were both speaking English, neither of us understood the other. "
I loved this scene because this is exactly how I feel when I read British book. They use terms that are only used in England and I have no idea what they are talking about! Although here I did know what a WC was, LOL.
Great, clean, beautifully written book!
