Kissing Kris Kringle, by Erin Quinn (review, interview & eBook giveaway!)

***DONE !***

5 STARS!!!!
ABOUT THE BOOK -
Kris Kringle is just an average guy living in the tiny town of North Pole, Maine where Christmas isn't just a holiday--it's a way of life. But not for Kris. He might be named after the big guy in red, but Kris is more Scrooge than Santa.

Until he wakes up from a night of partying with his friends to find himself in possession of a Santa suit, a toy bag and a puppy. Kris soon discovers that he's been relegated to Santa's naughty list and there's only one way to get his name removed....put on the suit and spread some cheer.

Lucky for Kris every cloud has a silver snowflake and his quest to get off that list lands him in the arms of the woman he's been lusting after for years.

It takes a little magic, but Kris is about to get everything he didn't even know he wanted for Christmas.

MY REVIEW -
Loved it!!!! What a perfectly adorable little Christmas treat! I liked it from the beginning, but then on page 16, when the magic started - I fell in love with it! It was cute, cute, cute on every page! I think it takes a lot of writing talent to be able to write a short story or Novella and give it the same feel as a book of 350 pages. Erin does a wonderful job of setting the scene and developing characters in a very short time (105 pages). I did not feel that this was lacking in any way. There was one slightly graphic sex scene at the end but it wasn't too bad, I didn't have to close my eyes (but wouldn't recommend it for younger readers).
This was a Magical Realism Christmas Romance Novella. It was very sweet, exciting, and CUTE!

And now for a short interview with Erin Quinn -

Erin, I so loved this book! But it is very different from your others.
Wendy, I'm so glad you're enjoying Kissing Kris Kringle!!!  It's much lighter than my other stories and I had so fun writing it!!!!!

What encouraged you to step out of your comfort zone?
I've really wanted to try shorter fiction because I've been hearing from readers that they like something they can read in a short amount of time--like while waiting for soccer practice to end or sitting in the doctors office.  I started with a ghost story that released in October and got such great feedback that I decided to do it again.  Two other writer friends, Calista Fox and Mary Leo and I released our stories together.  The ghost stories are link by the theme of ghosts.  The Santa stories are linked by friendship and geography.  As we began to brainstorm, we were all enchanted with the ideas and writing this story, for me, was a labor of love.  I enjoyed it so much and I learned something stepping out of my comfort zone.  I learned how much fun writing a joyful story can be.

Do you think you will try more like this?

Funny you should ask!  All three of us had been in a bit of slump about writing--we'd lost touch with that inner joy that drove us all to be writers in the first place.  Our little Santa stories awakened that feeling for all of us and we came away rejuvenated.  We decided we want to try again.  We'll be releasing stories for Valentine's Day and we are already talking about a summer vacation series.
Are you a Christmas person? Do you make a big deal out of Christmas?

I do love this time of year.  I love hearing Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays and I love how this time of year motivates people to think of their fellow humans.  The news features more charitable giving--whether monetary or just kindness--and people just seem to show more caring.  For me, that's what it's all about.  What's under the tree matters little to me.  The friends and family that I share it with are my big deal.

What is one Christmas tradition you do every year with your family?

We bake and watch old movies.  I love cooking, but don't have the chance to do it as much as I'd like.  For the holidays I make batches of cookies and while I'm baking, the kids (who are almost all grown up) help, sample and keep me company.

What is one thing that is on your Christmas wish list?

You know, Wendy, I am so blessed that I can't think of a single thing to put on my list this year.  I just want my girls home to spend it with, my family healthy, and time time to enjoy all the people I love.

Erin, Thank you so much for joining my Blog during "Christmas in July, in Dec."
Love the title, Wendy!  Thank you so much for thinking of me!  Merry Christmas to you and yours!
