Nook Shorts

5 STARS!!!!!

In her classic short story THE GLASS CASE, Kristin Hannah explores the heart and mind of a young mother.  April Bannerman is a young mother of three, married to her high school sweetheart & living in the same small town in which she grew up.  Although she loves her children and husband, April is plagued by the growing doubt that she has not lived up to her mother's expectations for her---until one day when something terrible and unexpected happens, and April must face the truth about her own life and discover what really matters.

LOOOOOVED it!!!! This is probably the best short story I have ever read! It was touching, sad, very hearetfelt. And had such great character development for such a short story! I do like Kristin Hannah but I really loved this! And it is free, so... no reason not to download this people!

Unlike most kids, teenage Katie Parker never got a fair shot at a normal life. With a mother in jail and a missing-in-action dad, she's never known what it's like to truly be loved. Low on options and family members, she's soon shipped off to a foster home. Now in an unfamiliar town, Katie's rebellious attitude is at odds with her new family, school, and classmates. And after falling in with all the wrong people at school, things go from bad to really bad after she takes the blame for vandalizing the local performing arts theater. But in the midst of a dark situation, Katie finds light in the most unexpected places: through her new friendship with an eccentric senior, the commitment of her foster family, and a tragic secret that changed them forever. And as she inches closer to acceptance and forgiveness, she finds that God has been there all along.

Really really nice Christian Young Adult book! I enjoyed reading this book very much! I loved Katie - she was spunky, sarcastic (a girl after my own heart LOL) and willing to learn and give life a try.
"My mama's in prison. Not jail, prison. She sold drugs and got busted by an undercover cop. It wasn't her first offence, so she'll be gone for a  long time. She left me alone in our 2 bedroom trailer most nights, so I learned to fend for myself. You learn a lot of stuff on your own."
Don't you just wanna hug her?
But it also hilarious!
"Lord, we thank you for sending your Son to die on the cross for our sins..." And what does that mean? I need a glossary here. Are some people just born getting this stuff? Is there a remedial class I should be taking. Yes, That's probably what I need - remedial Algebra and remedial Church. Church for Dummies. I should check Amazon.com."
This book is part of a series, I am pretty sure I will be reading the other 2! I got this when it was free for nook, sorry it is now $8.19, but still so worth the read!

Jerry Shepherd is a misfit in the town of Sawyer Creek.
Despite the fangs, the shapeshifting, and the red stuff in his sports bottle, he just wants to be like the other kids on his Little League team. And it doesn't hurt that he's the best player in the league.
Well, until the championship game, when Coach Ruttlemyer and Sawyer Creek learn the true cost of victory....

I'm sorry! This was one of the silliest short stories I have read. I know I am not into vampire books, but... Hmmm if it wasn't free I would be really disappointed. I couldn't even be sad at the end. This might actually appeal to a young boy and it is free.
