I've Got Your Number - Sophie Kinsella

5+++++STARS!!!

ABOUT THE BOOK -
I've lost it. :( The only thing in the world I wasn't supposed to lose. My engagement ring. It's been in Magnus's family for three generations. And now the very same day his parents are coming, I've lost it. The very same day! Do not hyperventilate, Poppy. Stay positive :) !!
Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her "happily ever after" begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!
Well, perfect except that the phone's owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn't agree. He wants his phone back and doesn't appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.
What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other's lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents . . . she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

MY REVIEW -
This is possibly the best Chick-Lit book I have ever read. I absolutely love Chick-Lit anyway, its like watching a "romantic comedy" in a book! I will have to embarrassingly admit that this is the first book by Sophie Kinsella I have actually read! I know, I know - me the queen of Chick-Lit books - not read a Sophie Kinsella book? I am amazed myself! I own about 4 of them, I just haven't read them yet. And I have watch the move "Confessions of a Shopaholic" does that count for something?

Anyway - The book is fresh, current, modern, fun, quirky, and very romantic! The story is at least 50% made up of texting back and forth! Its great. I was just thinking the other day how they never show that in TV shows or movies. In the real world, everyone is texting! All the time! Every restaurant you walk into, every suppermarket, every Wal-mart, and coffee shop you walk into there are people texting. Then why do they not show this on TV? And they almost never mention it in books. Well - Finally!  An up-to-date book about the real modern world as it is.

The ending of this book is absolutely brilliant! It is possibly one of the most original best endings I have read. I was gasping, and crying, and trying to read one sentence at a time between tossing tissues aside.

Thank you thank you thank you! Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group for sending me this GREAT e-book to read and review! I had the time of my life!

This book will be available on February 14, 2012

  1. This sounds like so much fun, and though a few years ago I would have balked at reading a Chick Lit title, I have gotten more comfortable with the genre, and have actually read some really good examples of it. Great review today! I really need to read this one!

  2. I'm not a huge fan of chick-lit, but I love Sophie Kinsella's stand alone books! My favorite of hers is Can You Keep a Secret? It is so good, cute and funny! I haven't been able to get into the Shopaholic books. I am definitely going to be reading this one.
