Shatter Me, by Tahereh Mafi

4 Stars!

ABOUT THE BOOK -
"You can't touch me," I whisper.
I'm lying, is what I don't tell him.
He can touch me, is what I'll never tell him.
But things happen when people touch me.
Strange things.
Bad things.
No one knows why Juliette's touch is fatal, but The Reestablishment has plans for her. Plans to use her as a weapon.
But Juliette has plans of her own.
After a lifetime without freedom, she's finally discovering a strength to fight back for the very first time—and to find a future with the one boy she thought she'd lost forever.

One window; four walls; sixteen square feet of space. For exactly 264 days, Juliette has been imprisoned in a small room because she touched someone and that person died. Outside, plague and famine have reduced the world to a ruined, violent place ruled by the despotic Reestablishment. Then, after those 264 days, those 6,336 hours of enforced solitude, the cursed 17-year-old has been selected to kill dissidents. Only time will tell if she and her gorgeous young male companion will survive—or die trying. Will they be weapons or warriors? A dystopian novel with a romantic hook.

MY REVIEW -
I had heard so much about this book, it seemed like it was being reviewed on every YA blog. I thought I had to give it a try. Normally I do not care for "Dystopian" novels, but this book was so well written and so engaging I could not help but fall in love with it!
I was amazed when I read that this was her first novel. She really writes like a well seasoned Author.
This book has tons of teen appeal. It is full of Angst. love, its scary, its edgy, and its exciting on every page. This book has such a hook in the first chapter - you wouldn't be able to put it down if you wanted to.

I think what really drew me in was the amazing character development! Wow! Juliette is an amazing young girl, way beyond her 17 years. I LOVED her! It was like an action movie - I was yelling, cheering her on, and rooting for her all the way. For being a girl with such a super power/ super curse, she really chose to use it wisely. She had a conscience, she didn't want to hurt people. She was a nice girl. She only used her power when those she loved were threatened.-, I liked that about her, it wasn't just all about her power.
I think if it weren't for this excellent character development I wouldn't have loved the book as much as I did.

The Author did a great job on the ending, but left it wide open for book two. Here I am - not a Dystopian reader - who can't wait to read the next book!
This book was very clean, no swearing (that I can remember), There were some kissing scenes and close calls but stopped before any sex (thank you!). I highly recommend this book, teens will love it!

I bought this book from B&N.
You can get it from B&N - HERE
