Fearless Fair Isle Knitting, by Kathleen Taylor

5 Stars!

ABOUT THE BOOK -
Bestselling knitwear author/designer demystifies stranded knitting in this gorgeous collection of original Fair Isle patterns while updating classic color work motifs and techniques.
Why "fearless"? In the past, knitters have considered Fair Isle knitting, or stranded knitting as it's also known, to be an advanced style that involves the frightening task of taking scissors to your hard-won work. As intimidating as this may seem, the cutting process, or steeking, is actually not something to worry about. In Fearless Fair Isle Knitting, best-selling knitwear designer Kathleen Taylor walks knitters of all levels through the technique. With Taylor's simple patterns and large, easy-to-follow charts, the projects yield delightfully vibrant results. The 30 stunning designs, which represent Taylor's updates on classic Fair Isle motifs, include sweaters, socks, dresses, vests, mittens, hats, and bags. With this book, Fair Isle knitting has become more accessible than ever - and serious knitters will agree... that's a beautiful thing.

MY REVIEW -
This is a beautiful knitting book full of gorgeous patterns! There are so many things I would love to try from this book. Now, In my opinion this book is not for beginners. Some of these patterns seem complicated. There are a few easier ones to start with - hats, mits, scarves, and socks! If you are a sock knitter like I am. Then you can work your way up to the beautiful sweaters and an absolutely gorgeous shawl!
If you are brave and like doing color-work then this is the book for you!

I would love to try these fingerless mits, I think I might be able to handle these.

The patterns in this book look pretty straight forward and easy to follow, there are good directions and clear charts. There is also a wide variety of items to make - from clothing (sweaters, hats, gloves, vests, etc.) to felted bags, drawstring bags, and children's clothing and also men's clothing!
And like I mentioned before they range from easier to more complicated, like I think a couple of those sweaters and that shawl would take me a year to finish! But well worth it!

Thank you so much The Taunton Press and Netgalley for sending me this e-book to review!
