 MY REVIEW -
What a delightful, sweet book this was!  It was so much better than I thought it was going to be. This book started right off. It was not slow getting started at all. It grabbed my attention right away and kept it through the end. I have read a few "Love Inspired" books before, and they are OK but a little lacking in the plot but this one was so much better.

This story was mainly about Josie (the mom, trying her hardest to save her daughter's life and keep her business afloat at the same time), Hannah (the daughter with Leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant) and Nick (the dad, who didn't know he was the dad). But there are also little mini stories in-between that it keep it so much more interesting. There is the relationship between Josie and Nick (that is or isn't happening), there is Nick's disabled brother who he has to find a new home for (didn't expect that little gem!) All this makes for a very heart-breaking and heart-warming story at the same time.

The character development was great, although I did not start out liking Josie. I though she was snotty and way too quick to judge. She did grow on me though and I ended up loving her. I did however love Nick right from the start. He was a great guy who loved his brother and was so willing to take on the family he didn't even know he had including his daughter. I also loved Hannah! She was perfect, very "kid-like" in character, she seemed real, a nice, smart, funny girl. I also loved all the family members and minor characters. The author had a way of making them important too.

The ending was very predictable but ... as I have said a million times - I don't mind a predictable ending as long as it ends the way I want it to, and this one did  :-)

I went ahead and downloaded her other book as well - "Lakeside Reunion" which I will probably read and review by the end of the month.

THE ALL-IN-ALL -
This was a very sweet, quick, easy read. A nice Christian based book - No sex or swearing, of course! I don't know if a teen would really be interested in this book, but if they were - it would be fine for any age.

Thank you Netgalley and Harlequin Love Inspired for this e-book to read and review!

  3. I read this book earlier this summer and I think your review is dead on. Lisa Jordan writes complex and deep characters that have you diving into the story from the very beginning. Not a page is wasted in her writing. I do think that for romance books 'predictability' in the ending should be expected. What should remain unpredictable are those 'little gems' as you mention. I hope you like Lakeside Reunion as well. Lindsey and Stephen are fabulous characters with their own wonderful journey.

  4. I like it when books end the way that I want them to as well, even if it is a little predictable. It sounds like these characters were very meaningful to you, and though you had initial misgivings about some of them, you came to love them all. What a great review! You've really enticed me into wanting to read this book. I am so glad that you loved it!
