MY REVIEW -
Excellent book, teaching you the properties of flowers and exactly how to use them.
Again I will remind you of my strong belief in the use of alternative healing. This book was a very good one for me. I actually learned a lot! And with my experience, it gets hard to teach me something new. I love learning new things, especially when it comes to alternative or holistic medicine.
I have to mention - the only reason for the 4.5 star (instead of 5) was for the lack of wildflowers???? I don't know why she chose to use mostly domestic flowers but I would have loved more wild flowers thrown in there too (there were a couple, but I have 9 acres of wildflowers). Maybe in a second book? Also I would have loved some pictures of the flowers, even small ones to help with identification.

In this book she teaches you the uses for each flower, and how to prepare them for the different uses and even doses.  Each chapter is about a different flower, the care, rituals, aromatherapy, oils, flower essences.

Here is an example -
Lavender - whisks away excess stress and mental chatter (don't we all need this!)...
You might add dried lavender to an herbal tea blend at least a cup a day until you feel cleansed...
lavender promotes harmony and balance, sleep patterns that work for us, and can help with love and relationships...
lavender oil support the healing process of acne, insect bites, headaches, asthma, premenstrual and menstrual problems, constipation, addictions, and depression.

This is a very thorough book. She has included many flowers and all their uses and describes exactly how to use them. At the end of the book she also tell how to make a flower essence.

Do you have flowers in your back yard? Well what have you got to loose? This is a very cheap (or free) way of trying something new. If it works - GREAT! but even if it doesn't work I think you will still have fun trying it. But I will tell you I am a firm believer and have used these methods for over 25 years!

In the summer when all the flowers start coming out, my daughter and I are going to make up a bunch of flower essences. I will take some pictures for you!

Thank you Netgalley for this e-book to review. Its not everyday this old dog get taught some new tricks!

  1. Sounds excellent!
    I want it.

But you bring up an excellent point. Wildflowers are brilliant, easy to grow, and all over. I want to learn more about them too.

This is your old Read-a-Thon pal checking up on you. I didn't see that you or your daughter were signed up for next Saturday. Are you skipping this one? Say it isn't so!
