Overbite - Meg Cabot

4 Stars!

ABOUT THE BOOK -
Meena Harper has a special gift, but it’s only now that anyone’s ever appreciated it. The Palatine Guard—a powerful secret demon-hunting unit of the Vatican—has hired her to work at their new branch in Lower Manhattan. With Meena’s ability to predict how everyone she meets will die, the Palatine finally has a chance against the undead.

Sure, her ex-boyfriend was Lucien Antonescu, son of Dracula, the prince of darkness. But that was before he (and their relationship) went up in flames. Now Meena’s sworn off vampires for good . . . at least until she can prove her theory that just because they’ve lost their souls doesn’t mean demons have lost the ability to love.

Meena knows convincing her co-workers—including her partner, über-demon-hunter Alaric Wulf—that vampires can be redeemed won’t be easy . . . especially when a deadly new threat seems to be endangering not just lives of the Palatine, but Meena’s friends and family as well.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR -
Meg Cabot was born in Bloomington, Indiana. In addition to her adult contemporary fiction, she is the author of the bestselling young adult fiction series, The Princess Diaries. More than 25 million copies of her novels for children and adults have sold worldwide. Meg lives in Key West, Florida, with her husband.
And I love this little bit about her -
"I am left handed."
"I hate tomatoes of any kind."
"I really wanted to be veterinarian, but I got a 410 on my math SATs."
"Writing used to be my hobby, but now that it's my job, I have no hobby -- except watching TV and laying around the pool reading US Weekly. I have tried many hobbies, such as knitting, Pilates, ballet, yoga, and guitar, but none of them have taken. So I guess I'm stuck with no hobby.

MY REVIEW -
Oh my gosh, what a fun book to read! As are all of Meg Cabot's books. As usual, this book is NOT real-like, total paranormal, and in the fun, quirky kind of way. I think this is where Meg really shines. I love this type of book from her. They are so much fun to read.
"We thought you were dead... Except, of course, you already are. So we didn't know what was wrong. You look terrible. Why are you living in a cave?"
Stupid me, I did not realize this was book two! And... I own the first book! Why, oh why didn't I check my shelf first? Oh well... it didn't really matter. I liked this book just fine without re4ading the first. I did have a few questions that woudl have been answered if I had read the first.. stupid, stupid.
Well now I will have to go back and read the first.

There was excellent character development! I loved Meena and all of her vampire hunting friends! Only Meg can actually make vampire hunting seem like fun!
"I'm over a hundred and fifty years old... I realize that might be chump change to y'all, but it's not like I haven't been around..."
"True, he had no soul. True he was the five-hundred-year-old son of one of the prolific serial killers in history, who had made an unholy pact with Satan in order to achieve immortality, and so needed to consume human blood to survive...
Still, he never stopped loving her."
If you love a good, fun, quirky, vampire story this is a great series to read. But I suggest you start with the first one, not the second one like I did :-/

I would like to thank my friend Jen "At Random" who gave me this book along with a bunch of other Meg Cabot books because she knows my love for this author!
