MY REVIEW -
Fantastic, useful, and fun! This is a great book, especially for beginners. I think I pretty much knew most of the stuff in here but if someone is thinking of trying out gardening for the first time, or doesn't know what to do with their veggies after they grow and how to store them - this would be a fabulous book for them!
I used the word fun. One doesn't normally think of a gardening (or pioneering) book as fun, but this one is! It has lots of great fun pictures, drawings, and tons of directions, charts, and step-by-step pictures. This book is very pleasing to the eye! It literally makes you want to go out and start digging.

The first chapter is all about the garden.
How to choose what to put in your garden (I go through almost these same questions) - What do I not like buying at the store? What are my favorite veggies? What goes into a salad? What do I spend the most money on?
It lists the tools you might need. It has a cute hand written list of warm weather plants and cold weather plants, the easiest to grow, the best to grow.
What shape should your garden be and where?
Common problems and pests and how to overcome them.
How to build a raised bed
Herbs, preserving and some recipes...
WHEW! and thats just the first chapter!

There is a whole chapter on preserving. I love this! Pickling, salting and smoking, drying, preserves and jams, fermenting, and more!

There are a few "weekend worrier projects - cheese making, butter making, homemade teas, and yet more!

Oh my goodness this book has so much to offer it feels like it is a thousand page book! She really packs a lot in here! And as I said - this is a great book for beginners. This book makes it look fun and not intimidating. Its like she just walks you right through it.

This would make a great gift book for someone who wants to give this a try for the first time.

Thank you so much "Blogging for Books" for sending me this book free for my honest review! It was a great one!
