MY REVIEW -
A very good historical fiction story! This book was a little slow for me in the beginning and was hard for me to get into at first. But once the story got going it was much better and more interesting and I began to enjoy it. The historical aspect of this was excellent and I love historical fic. so it was right up my alley. You could definitely tell Jody did her homework.

The character development was very good. Right away I really liked Angelique, the main character. She seemed sweet, fun, and a little bold! I felt like I would have liked her in real life. However I did not like Pierre at first, he had to grow on me, which he did.

What I really loved about this book was the descriptions. I have always wanted to go to Mackinac Island. I have been close, I've been to MI and the UP, but no to the island. The descriptions in this book were great, even though it took place a long time ago, it made it very interesting.

All-in-all this was a very nice, historical fiction romance - a good read for the end of summer!
