The Banks Of Certain Rivers, by Jon Harrison A re-post with a brand new cover! With a giveaway!!!

4 Stars!

ABOUT THE BOOK -
Neil Kazenzakis is barely holding his life together: ever since an accident left his wife profoundly disabled, he's been doing his best as a single dad and popular high school teacher. He's also been dealing with Lauren Downey, his sort-of girlfriend of the past two years who's pushing for a commitment—and for Neil to finally tell his son Christopher about their secret relationship. Neil's carefully balanced world begins to fall apart when some questionable footage of him is anonymously posted to YouTube...just as Chris learns about Lauren in the worst possible way. Doubting his own recollection of the events in the online video as he's threatened with the loss of his job and the ability to care for his wife, Neil must find a way to prove the truth to his family, his community, and himself as he struggles to regain the splintered trust of his son.
Heartbreaking, poignant, and written with devastating humor and warmth, The Banks of Certain Rivers is a shattering story of memory, loss, and just how far a man will go to show the people closest to him the meaning of love.

MY REVIEW -
So many emotions went through me when I was reading this book. I went from sadness, pity, anger, worry, and finally acceptance that he was doing the right thing. I wasn't so sure how I felt about the whole thing in the beginning - your wife is basically a vegetable in a home and you are sleeping with someone else? This just didn't sit well with me at first. But once I learned the people and what was in their hearts and learned more about the situation... I did come to accept it, totally surprising myself!

There are a few other twists and turns in this story as well! There is almost two or three plots happening all at once. I liked that. It really kept the story going. My only reason for giving it only 4 stars instead of 5 was that is was a little slow a few times (mostly during the flashbacks). The rest of it was very good. I do hope this is not the last we see of this author!

The character development was great. I am not usually one to really fall for the male character but this was done so well I really did end up liking him very much. I also liked the way this male author developed the main female characters in this story and that doesn't happen to me very often. Usually I do not like female characters by a male author, but this one got it spot on! As well as doing a great job with the teenager. All the characters were very believable and real to me.

A couple of not-so-graphic sex scenes and some swearing so please keep that in mind.
