Bible Dominoes - Juliet David (Author), Jo Parry (Illustrator)

4 Stars

ABOUT THE GAME -
This domino game helps children to learn about the Bible and Jesus while playing! It also encourages communication, sharing, counting, and matching skills. The pieces are large and colorful, so they re easy to pick up, and the pictures are clear. The set includes 28 dominoes with a mixture of Bible story characters, numbers, and animals to match, as well as instructions and a story booklet explaining the stories featured on the cards. A useful resource for home, school, or Sunday school.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND ILLUSTRATOR -
Juliet David has written many children s stories and Bible activity books. Her other interests include painting, music, and travel to Israel and other Bible lands. This experienced author lives in London with her family.

She creates her characteristic style using an Apple Mac, and is fulfilling a lifelong dream working as an illustrator. Jo lives in Bournemouth, on England s south coast.

MY THOUGHTS -
There are several different thoughts flying through my head leaving me with very mixed feelings. I did give them 4 stars though because the positive outweighs the negative.
These are beautifully colored and illustrated dominoes made out of very sturdy cardboard. They are definitely bright and eye catching, fun to look at, even the backs are pretty with the rainbows! They are also nice and big for little hands.

The problems are - you are suppose to hold them in your hands like you do when playing cards. The little ones, who these are designed for, will not be able to do that. Normally when playing dominoes you stand them up in front of you so only you can see them, you can't do that with these.
The other thing I am not sure about is the little book that came with it. Its this little 10 page thin paper book that has little blurbs about different Bible stories. I am not sure why this came with it, but the quality does not begin to match the domino set. I would not let a young child touch this unless you don't care if it is destroyed within minutes. I think they should have gone the extra and given you a nice cardboard book to match the stories on the dominoes then it prob would have gotten 5 stars from me.

Regardless of all that - I do think kids will enjoy these! They are pretty to look at and fun. It also gives you the opportunity to talk about what pictures are on them.

Thank you Kregel Publications for sending me these for my honest review!
