Royal Wedding -Meg Cabot

4.5 Stars!

ABOUT THE BOOK -
From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Princess Diaries series, comes the very first adult installment, which follows Princess Mia and her Prince Charming as they plan their fairy tale wedding—but a few poisoned apples could turn this happily-ever-after into a royal nightmare.

For Princess Mia, the past five years since college graduation have been a whirlwind of activity, what with living in New York City, running her new teen community center, being madly in love, and attending royal engagements. And speaking of engagements. Mia’s gorgeous longtime boyfriend Michael managed to clear both their schedules just long enough for an exotic (and very private) Caribbean island interlude where he popped the question! Of course Mia didn’t need to consult her diary to know that her answer was a royaloui.

But now Mia has a scandal of majestic proportions to contend with: Her grandmother’s leaked “fake” wedding plans to the press that could cause even normally calm Michael to become a runaway groom. Worse, a scheming politico is trying to force Mia’s father from the throne, all because of a royal secret that could leave Genovia without a monarch.  Can Mia prove to everyone—especially herself—that she’s not only ready to wed, but ready to rule as well?

MY THOUGHTS -
Cute, cute, cute! I am a big fan of The Princess Diaries and Meg Cabot anyway (I have read several of her books) so I was begging to get a review copy of this book.
I would say this book is pretty typical "Meg Cabot" cheeky, snarky, hilarious, cute, and romantic - awwwww.

I just loved this storyline. I loved the grown-up Mia and her friends. The Grandmother is still... the grandmother LOL. Besides just being a love story this one has a few twists and turns in there. It wasn't just about a wedding and the planning of, thank God, because that would be boring (to me anyway!). This book had a lot of other stuff going on so it kept the story moving.

This book got mixed reviews on Amazon. I think you have to be a fan of Meg's style of writing. She writes just like she talks, and talks and talks LOL. If you have never seen one of her video clips - look her up on YouTube she's hilarious. The whole time I was reading I kept trying to picture "Princes Diaries" the movie, and I did succeed a few times, but mostly I kept picturing Meg talking - like she was right in my livingroom with me just telling me this story! It was so cool! My own personal Meg!
Now I so want to watch the movies again! I'll have to see if they are on Netflix.

A few of my favorite lines -
"I was eating cheese popcorn while checking on my phone to see if there is a Wiki-How for "How to Discuss Your Dad's Secret Love Child with Him"

"Yeah," Lilly said. "I saw the mustache. Or should I say, lack thereof. Your Dad needs to be kept away from sharp objects and probably everything else right now except YouTube videos about cute puppies."

"Oh my God. You two are so naive. It's like watching Bambi and Thumper go after Tony Soprano."
I do hope she writes another - I can just imagine Mother Mia!!!!
If you are a fan of Princess Diaries, a fan of Meg Cabot, or just a fan of chick-lit you will love this book!
