Storm Rising - Rachael Richey
4 Stars!
ABOUT THE BOOK -
Frontman of the grunge rock band NightHawk, Gideon Hawk has had enough of the rock star life. He is jaded, disillusioned, and haunted by the memory of an unresolved heartbreak. On a whim, he leaves the band in New York and heads to England in search of answers.
After attending the funeral of her estranged mother, Abigail Thomson makes a shocking discovery in her parents’ attic. The still-raw memories that surface, along with even more startling discoveries, force Abi to face a devastating truth that leads to a series of life-changing events. She and Gideon must race against time to reclaim the life stolen from them a decade before.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR -
I was brought up in Hampshire, then lived on the Isle of Mull for fourteen years, during which time I met and married my husband David, and had two children.
In late 2000 the family moved to Cornwall where we have lived ever since.
I began writing stories at the age of seven, and have been obsessed with writing ever since.
My debut novel, Storm Rising, is the first in the NightHawk Series, closely followed by Rhythm of Deceit, Cobwebs in the Dark and The Girl in the Painting with The Wild Rose Press.
MY THOUGHTS -
I ended up really liking this book after a slightly slow start.
The story was off and on for me in the beginning, and was a little boring in spots, but... halfway through it took a definite turn for the better! The last half totally makes up for the slow beginning.
It got very exciting and much more on-the-edge-of-your-seat-ish.
I also wasn't sure how I felt about the two main characters in the beginning -but I ended up really liking them both! It just took a little bit of time to get to know them.
What I loved about this book was the whole rock star vs small town girl love story that was on break for ten years! This was all done very well. I thought it was very romantic and seemed very real to me.
I liked how the book took turns with Abi and Gideon so you get to know both characters, I love when books do this.
There are some real twists in here that I can not spoil for you! But it is definitely worth reading and finding out for yourself! I thought the book had a great ending. I read the whole last half of the book in one day.
This was Rachael's first book and I am positive her next one will be even better! I am looking forward to reviewing that one mid August!
Thank you Rachael Richey for sending me your e-book for my honest review!
