As a result, God has taken her around the world to encourage others to live every day for Him. Her latest book, SOLD OUT Live for Jesus, released September 2015. And her book My Prayer Chair won multiple awards in 2013 and is now available in Spanish and as an audiobook through Audible. Carla and her husband, Fred, live in the Houston, TX area and have three sons, one daughter, and two daughters-in-"love." MY THOUGHTS -
Awesome! When I agreed to review this book I told Carla that I was really over booked and would only be able to skip around and read a few passages and review as best I could.
Well... I have now read half the book! I couldn't stop.
Of course I didn't do it the way it should be done. I didn't do the challenges, the questions, or the journaling, I just read... and read.
I need to go back and do it the way it should be done when I have more time to do it right, Oh and I will!

This book could be used in so many different ways. I plan on just using it myself, kind of a quiet time thing. But it would be great to do with a friend or daughter (or mother) so you can talk about it together. Or you could even use it for a woman's group. I am going to suggest it for my women's Bible study group.

The book is laid out in chapters with mini sections within the chapters (for example) -

Chapter 1 - Refresh Your Connections

• God Hears: Pray 911
• God Designs: His Kingdom Puzzle
• God Appoints: Divine Assignments
• God Plants: His Garden
• God Plans: No Expectations

In each section there is a Bible verse, a little devotion or reflection/story to get you thinking, a "Life challenge", and a prayer journal with a section to write things down.

An example of the Life Challenge -

"Are you confused about a situation? Do circumstances in your life not make sense? Do you feel like a mismatched sock shoved in a dark place? Please read Colossians 2:2-3 one more time. I love how Paul says... My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart. Be encouraged, my friend. Jesus loves you and will never forsake you. Ask God to give you a heart of understanding. He is there twenty-four hours, seven days a week, to lift you from the dark places in your life. Call on Him. Trust Him. Surrender it all to Jesus."

I think this book is an excellent tool for anyone, almost any age. I can even seeing a teen using it. It is very easy to use and easy to understand. I didn't feel like Carla was talking over my head, I felt like she was talking to me (instead of at me). I also didn't feel that it was overly preachy, even though it is a Christian teaching/devotional type book. Each section is short and quick, so no excesses about not having time!
This book is interesting, challenging enough (gets you thinking about things you might not have thought about) - but also fun!
