5 Stars!

ABOUT THE BOOK -
Looking for a walk on the wild side, Annabel Percy, the daughter of a powerful politician, gives in to an attraction to a sexy biker she meets one night. But she finds herself living a nightmare when she’s kidnapped and transported into a hell on earth she never could have imagined.

Born and bred into the Hells Raiders MC, Nathaniel “Reverend” Malloy lives and dies for his brothers. But when he becomes the unexpected savior of a rival club’s captive, Rev makes it his personal mission to nurse Annabel back to health—and to shelter her from the nightmares that torment her.

Once Annabel heals, she’s stunned to realize she is falling for the seductive man who saved her. Faced with their impossible attraction, can she accept the life he leads, or will Rev walk away from the only life he’s ever known for the woman he was never supposed to love?

MY THOUGHTS -
Holy cow - I'm hooked! Absolutely hooked! I love these books. I loved the first one - Vicious Cycle but I really think I loved this one even more, if that's possible.

Wow! The character development is amazing. Not only do you really feel like you know the characters like family but you really do fall in love with them. I was so emotionally invested in this story and the people. After the first couple of minutes into the book I didn't think I was going to like Annabel but I very quickly changed my mind and fell in love with her. Her character seemed very realistic to me. And, of course, I absolutely adored Rev!!!! OMG!!! Katie Ashley sure knows how to create a leading man! He was so good to her, so sweet to Annabel, it gave me chillbumps.

I have to admit - I am not a huge fan of explicit sex in books. And I am glad to report that this one did not have as much as the first. And what it did have was very appropriate and well done. I don't think I blushed the whole time.

What I did do was - cry! This book, for me was a tear jerker. There were several spots that made me tear up. This was a very emotionally charged book. I was warned that this book was about a "dark" subject. Well I feel like I can tell you without spoiling the book it has to do with sex trafficking and the sex trade. But the subject matter didn't turn me off at all. I didn't feel as though it was too dark. Maybe I've just read a lot of dark books and am immune to them. But I thought this book was very tastefully done. I don't think it was too graphic at all (but that is just my opinion).

I loved how the book kept quoting the poem "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allen Poe. That is my most favorite poem ever!
It was many and many a year ago,
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
   By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me. ~ You can read the full poem - HERE

This story was just as much a suspense book as it was romance. It was definitely a page turner that you will not want to put down! When you start reading be prepared for be sitting for a while. I was reading this book one evening and it was almost time for Survivor to start (now I am a huge fan of Survivor!), but I was almost late watching TV because I couldn't stop reading this!

Oh I am so ready for the next one - Last Mile, Bring it on!

Thank you so much Berkley for turning me on to these books! I received this book in exchange for my honest review.

  2. I haven't read a good romantic suspense novel in a while. I'm going to have to pick up this one and Vicious Cycle. Thanks for the review.
