ABOUT THE BOOK -
Welcome, neighbor!

Julie Prentice and her family move across the country to the idyllic Mount Adams district of Cincinnati, hoping to evade the stalker who’s been terrorizing them ever since the publication of her bestselling novel, The Murder Game. Since Julie doesn’t know anyone in her new town, when she meets her neighbor John Dunbar, their instant connection brings measured hope for a new beginning. But she never imagines that a simple, benign conversation with him could set her life spinning so far off course.

We know where you live…

After a series of misunderstandings, Julie and her family become the target of increasingly unsettling harassment. Has Julie’s stalker found her, or are her neighbors out to get her, too? As tension in the neighborhood rises, new friends turn into enemies, and the results are deadly.

MY THOUGHTS -
I love Catherine McKenzie! I have read several of her books and loved them all - until this one. This was just a "like a lot" for me. And then only because the second half of the book totally saved it. For me, the first half of the book was very slow and very confusing. I know that we weren't supposed to know exactly what was happening until the end, but it just didn't work for me that way. I felt lost most of the time. I tried to figure out what was going on only to be totally wrong and back to confusion.
And then... half way through the book, it was like Catherine McKenzie suddenly showed up! It finally felt like one of her books - un-put-downable.

There was good character development, but the thing is - I didn't really like anybody! I didn't hate them, I just couldn't connect with them.
You know how I keep mentioning about little silly things that connect you personally to a book, that can make all the difference? The two main characters are Julie Prentice and John Dunbar. Well in real life I know a Julie Prentice! My daughter went to school with her son (and had a crush on him) in our local small town in upstate NY. And John Dunbar - well... All you Kevin Costner fans out there (and I am his biggest fan!) will recognize that name from Dances With Wolves!!!! Which just happens to be my favorite movie of all time! So that was fun to keep reading those names over and over - made me smile!

So all-in-all this is a good book. The last half saves it. It is definitely worth the read. It did get some great reviews. So give it a try!
