ABOUT THE BOOK -
What if you can’t help but hurt the person you love?

Kat Cullen has it all—a staff writer position at the New York Times, beauty, independence—until she finds herself alone on the subway at night with a rapist. Saved by Alex Summer, a democratic candidate running for mayor of New York, she develops an unexpected friendship with him.

Alex’s chaotic past is the kind of juicy scoop every political reporter dreams of—which is why he keeps it hidden. But as he starts falling in love with Kat, he opens up to her about his darkest secrets. What he doesn’t know is that Kat already knows all about him, and she’s on an assignment to expose his history.

Caught between truth, love and ambition, two people must figure out the politics of the heart.

MY THOUGHTS -
I liked this book so much more than I even thought I would. The beginning of the story was heartbreaking - it grabs your attention right away. What I really liked about this book was its not just about the romance. There is a lot going on in here. This story has depth, its interesting, it makes you want to read more. I liked the political aspect (Alex is running for mayor) especially now with the presidential race going on. I think I read this at a good time.

Very good character development, I loved both Kat and Alex. They were both very likable and real to me. I liked the relationship they had between them. I liked that Kat struggled with doing the right thing for the right reasons. We all struggle with things like that. I don't know what kind of a choice I would have made if I were Kat. Actually she kind of surprised me. I am glad that she did what she did - and it had a great ending.
I loved Alex/Cole right from the beginning. I was worried that I might not like him all through the book - but.. his character stayed true for me and I just fell more deeply in love with him. I would say - he had good roots, a good heart under that bad boy exterior. Let's face it - we love reading about bad boys!

I was very surprised that this was only Sasha's second novel (the second in the NYC Singles series) because she doesn't read like a new author. I totally expected to go to her website and see about 50 books! I am definitely going to read the other books in this series. This was a fun, heartfelt, easy flowing read.

I will be reading and reviewing Love me Like you Do (NYC Singles #3) on Jan. 18.

I voluntarily posted this review after receiving this book from the author, Sasha Clinton. Thank you!
