A Spectacle of Glory - Joni Eareckson Tada

5 Stars

ABOUT THE BOOK -
Do you ever wonder why God created you? The Bible spells it out plainly: God created you to showcase His glory—to enjoy it, display it, and demonstrate it every day to all those you encounter.

After nearly 50 years of living as a quadriplegic, and dealing with chronic pain on a daily basis, Joni has learned firsthand the importance of glorifying God through the toughest of situations. Through this devotional, Joni will help you discover how to put God’s glory on display—how to say no to complaining and say yes to daily following God down even the most difficult paths. Along the way, you will find great comfort and encouragement by focusing on the one who longs to lead and guide you every step of the way, every day.

Don’t ever think your life is too ordinary, your world too small, or your work too insignificant. All of it is a stage set for you to glorify God.

MY THOUGHTS -
Joni Eareckson Tada is kind of hero of mine. I read her Bio (her first book, published in 1976) when I was a just a teenager and I have never been so impressed in my life! It certainly made you feel like all your problems were very small and that you could overcome anything. And now look how far she has come!

Joni has quite a few devotionals out there but this is my first one. I am impressed! I would definitely get another one. I am looking forward to using it this year.

What I love about this devotional -
It is a beautiful and well made book. It has a padded hard cover and is a great size for holding and taking with you. It can easily fit into my purse.
This is a numbered, day-by-day devotional, which I normally don't like. But I do like the simple layout of this book.
At the very top there is a Bible reading (not all devotionals have that, so I love it!). Then she has her thoughts which are directly related to the reading, then a simple prayer.
I like that it is not too long. Perfect for a busy life, just fit it into your morning while drinking your coffee. As said in another book I read - "Have coffee with God".

This is what I call "a very usable book". Some devotionals are beautiful, or a great idea theoretically but are just not that usable - This is a very usable book! Others are filled with stories of other people's lives (I don't really care for those kind of devotionals). This one is a Bible reading and thoughts about the Bible reading! Wow! What a thought! LOL Perfect.

If you are looking for a devotional that is about the Bible, taken right from the bible and how you can use it in your life - This one is perfect for you!

I voluntarily posted this review after receiving this book from Handlebar Publishing. Thank you!
