ABOUT THE BOOK -
A crooked conglomerate makes a move on fictional Newport City by first attempting to incite a war between its existing criminal organizations before taking over with its own "in-house" group. Hired by a major gang leader to avert the war, freelance information broker Kevin recruits his ex-enforcer, ex-con brother Chance, fresh out of prison, and Kaity, a reporter with a vendetta, driven by the crossfire murder of her boyfriend. Together, they must scour the city's darkest corners to uncover the conspiracy. The city's only hope lies in the hands of this unlikely trio.

MY THOUGHTS -
What's a girl like me doing liking a book like this? But... Oh I did! I figured something out about a year ago - I love reading about gangs! Go figure. This story was very exciting, so much action.
Great character development! I loved the involvement of Kaity. I'm so glad the author chose to get her involved in the investigations instead of sitting pretty on the sidelines. I loved Chance! I kinda had a book crush on him! What a big ol' sweetheart - with fists of steel. He can protect me any day! Kevin was the brains of the operation and of course he was the one who "got the girl".
There is some swearing and crude language, but that's what makes it real. If there wasn't any swearing I would have been surprised. Besides if you are a fan of Sons of Anarchy - you're used to it. :-)
I don't shy away from books with a lot of action and/or violence. I love it, the more action - the better! And this one was jammed packed. Very cleverly written with a great ending.
I found this in "The Urban Dictionary" - concrete smile. forcing someone to get down and bite a curb as you stomp on the back of their neck, breaking the jaw and many teeth. ~ hahaha, sound like fun? Well, maybe not, if you're the one laying on the concrete!
This was my first book by this author and I will say - I would definitely read another.
