Mooseberry Mooseberry Gooseberry Pie - by Kathryn Elizabeth Jones and Cheryl J. Sachse

5 STARS!!!

ABOUT THE BOOK -
Mooseberry Mooseberry Gooseberry Pie is silly sensational fun! Whether the fun is swimming in the summer heat, singing the next up-and-coming hit, or holding your feet up from dancing too long, expect your favorite moose to be doing it! The nonsensical rhyming wordplay by Kathryn Elizabeth Jones, as well as the vivid watercolor illustrations by Cheryl J. Sachse, make this delightful book something to read often, whether you’re being read to, or tackling the fun words on your own! So, sit down and take a load off! And hand me some of that gooseberry pie, will you?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR -
Kathryn is a lover of words and a bearer of mood swings. When she is feeling the need to inspire, she writes a Christian fiction book. If a mystery is waiting to be uncovered, she finds it. If something otherworldly is finding its way through her fingertips, she travels to it.

Kathryn has been a reader since she was a young child. Although she took classes in writing as a teen, it wasn’t something she really thought would become her career until she was married. And even then, it took a few more years for something worthy enough to publish to manifest itself.

Kathryn’s first book was published in 2002. Since then, many other books have found their way out of her head depending on the sort of day she is having. Kathryn is a journalist, a teacher, a mentor, an editor, a publisher, and a marketer.

Her greatest joy, other than writing her next book, is meeting with readers and authors who enjoy the craft of writing as much as she does.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR -
Cheryl is an award-winning artist in several mediums and is currently showing in four different galleries.  She has been involved in the arts most of her life not only in expression but in the enjoyment of seeing, hearing and feeling.  She has worked in most mediums, including pottery, glass work, oils, acrylics, pencils, writing and even finger painting.  But her favorite is watercolor.  She is currently a member of the Dixie Watercolor Society (DWS), Southern Utah Art Guild (SUAG), Z-Arts and the Virgin Valley Art Association (VVAA).
She has her masters in human resources. Her career was in the field of working with people.  However, her life and career really began when she retired and picked up her joy of expression through her arts.  Currently living in St George, UT with her husband of almost fifty years, she wanders the red rocks of the south and travels the world looking for the next subject matter.  Some of her subjects come from wildlife pictures from her son and inspiration from her daughter and six grandchildren.

MY THOUGHTS -
This is an absolutely delightful book! A lot of very witty, rhymey, tongue twisty, fun! A must for read-a-loud story time. But be careful, don't let the words get mixed up in your mouth!
"Give me your hand and I'll teach you to dance Taggle-dy taggle-dy tap-ity prance"
And I can't say enough about the gorgeous illustrations! These are frameable pictures. This would make a great Christmas gift for your children or grandchild (or neighbor, or friend's kids...).

My 14 month old granddaughter is coming this weekend (with my daughter and hubby LOL) and I can't wait to read this to her from my iPad. I almost wish there was a hardcover version of this - it is so worthy!

I voluntarily posted this review after receiving a copy of this book from the author Thank You!

  3. Thank you for your comments. So you know, this is the first picture book of many I will be doing with Cheryl! It has taken me over 20 years to find the right illustrator for my books, and I have finally found her.
