Adorable Baby Knits - Jody Long

4.5 STARS

ABOUT THE BOOK -
Intermediate to advanced knitters will adore these original designs, which offer a modern take on classic infant knitwear. Twenty-five patterns, arranged by skill level, include booties and matching hats, blankets, a vest, and a dress as well as a generous selection of sweaters, cardigans, and coats. The patterns incorporate cables, lace, bobbles, color work, and a variety of other techniques that lend a distinctive charm to each item. All projects feature clear directions as well as charts, schematics, and color photos.
Projects include booties in fisherman's rib and seed stitches, rainbow booties with matching hat, flower picot and frilly sun hats, and blankets with teddy bear and rosette motifs. Sweaters range from sheep, daisy, and nautical styles to swing, fringed, and loop stitch cardigans. Other patterns include an easy henley, zigzag bolero, peplum coat, moss stitch duffle coat, cabled vest and pullover, lace and seed stitch dress, and more. An ideal source of fresh ideas and personalized presents, this book is also a great gift for anyone with a knack for knitting.

MY THOUGHTS -
My very first thought was - I love that there are more complicated patterns in this book! As an experienced knitter I get tired of looking at pattern books with nothing but simple "quick knits" that just bore the pants off me (so to speak). So when I saw all the lovely cabled sweaters in here I squealed with glee :-)

There are a lot of sweaters (and jackets) in this book, which is great! But I do wish there were a little more of the other items. There are a couple hats but not very good ones, a couple booties but nothing new, and a couple blankies but again...

But I do give this book credit for all the wonderful sweater patterns. I am going to try a couple of them right away!

Here are a couple pictures -

Doesn't this one look like so much fun????
And this one is a boring quick one but my daughter loves it... so I will probably end up making it for my granddaughter! LOL

This author actually has quite a few other books I would love to get my hands on!
