MY THOUGHTS -
Holy cow, this was an "edge-of-your-seat" book if I ever read one! This story was very well crafted. It was terrifying in the way that this could actually happen in real life, and probably has. I would have to not recommend this to my daughter. She would never leave her kids with a babysitter ever again.
When my daughter was a baby, this was my biggest fear - having her abducted. So much so that I sometimes would take my pillow and sleep on her bedroom floor next to the crib. I think this is every parents worst nightmare.
This is told in three different points of view, Ali - the mom, Brooke - the babysitter, and Jimmy - the abductor (also Brooke's ex!). I love when books do this if its done right and it is expertly done in this one!
Excellent character development - except I didn't really like anyone! LOL but I really think you are not supposed to. This book is more about the situation, which is intense, not so much about the characters. It just works! One thing I really loved is how the reality of taking care of a baby really hits Jimmy. It's not as easy as he thought. And baby Eden really gives it to him. This part was actually quite humorous.
This author has a handful of other books that I will be checking out. This was a great one from this new to me author. I read the whole thing in almost one day! Couldn't put it down.
- Thank You!!
Isn't it funny how you can love a book and not like anybody in it. I felt that way about some of Elin Hildebrand. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteYes I’ve had that happen quite a few times actually. Where I have absolutely loved the book and hated all the characters lol.
