Three Strikes, You’re Dead by Elena Hartwell

5 STARS!

ABOUT THE BOOK -

Private investigator Eddie Shoes heads to a resort outside Leavenworth, Washington, for a mother-daughter getaway weekend. Eddie’s mother, Chava, wants to celebrate her new job at a casino by footing the bill for the two of them, and who is Eddie to say no?

On the first morning, Eddie goes on an easy solo hike, and a few hours later, stumbles over a makeshift campsite and a gravely injured man. A forest fire breaks out and she struggles to save him before the flames overcome them both. Before succumbing to his injuries, the man hands her a valuable object. He tells her his daughter is missing and begs for help. Is Eddie now working for a dead man?

Eddie wakes in the hospital to find both her parents have arrived on the scene. Will Eddie’s card-counting mother and mob-connected father help or hinder the investigation? The police search in vain for a body. How will Eddie find the missing girl with only Eddie’s memory of the man’s face and a photo of his daughter to go on?

 MY THOUGHTS -

Awwww this one was sweet! I mean… Don’t get me wrong… It was also jaw dropping, edge of your seat, earth shattering excitement and action. But also, awww this one was really sweet! Lol - While other parts of this were laugh-out-loud funny. Just how I like my books.. sweet, intense, and hilarious.

I loved the vivid descriptions of the resort they went to. It really made me want to go there myself.
Eddie hiking up the trail brought back memories of my Adirondack mountain hiking days. We owned a cabin in the Adirondacks for years. We loved it up there! The visual in the book was so good I really pictured those mountains.

But oh my gosh, this book got intense quickly. The whole first quarter had me dangling from the edge of my seat. Part of me couldn't even believe it! I was like - "Am I serious reading this right now? This is really happening? It's not a dream?"  Spoiler - it wasn't a dream! LOL

A lot of great action, a lot of great characters, and a fantastic mystery!
Loved this whole series!

If you haven't read book one yet... you should!
