How to Slay on Holiday - Sarah Bonner

4 Stars!

ABOUT THE BOOK -

You’d kill for a holiday like this one…

Chloe and her husband Scott are holidaying with their families on the beautiful Greek island of Mykonos. But Chloe has a secret... She has hired a hitman to kill Scott when they return home. This week, her plan is to pretend to be such a happy wife that no suspicion can possibly fall on her after the murder.

But she's reckoning without Scott’s meddlesome sister, Tori, plus the rivalries and demands of both families. Can she deal with them all while keeping her murderous intentions hidden?

Then Chloe wakes up in their villa covered in blood, next to a dead body, with no memory of the previous night. Panic ensues as she tries to piece together what happened - and just who else on this holiday might be a secret killer...

MY THOUGHTS -

I may have judged this one too quickly. This did end up being a fun read!

You know right off the bat what’s going to happen… She wants to kill her husband! And with good reason, he’s quite the jerk! The relationship she has with him is actually kind of hilarious. I mean with phrases like “he makes me want to vomit“ and "I want to punch him in the face“ you can’t get much better than that! :-)

Character development was great. I liked Chloe, but her sister-in-law, Tori, was the real rock star here for me! At first I thought she was just a young, rich, spoiled brat... Well she is, but she is much more than that! She is a young, rich, spoiled brat with brains... and guts!

Side note - look up what is in a "porn star martini".

This book had a very slow beginning for me. It literally took me 30% to start really liking it. But, it did get better and better from there.

There are a lot of characters to keep track of, and I did get confused a couple of times. I should’ve taken notes in the beginning lol.

All-in-all - this book was 50/25/25 a slow beginning, got better at the middle, and then smashed it with a great ending. A fun, quick, exciting (during the last half) twisty, suspenseful read.
