MY THOUGHTS:
This was very beautifully written! I started out reading this a bit slow, taking my time, getting a feel for it. But then I kept reading faster and faster. I read the last half of the book in almost one day, only saving the very end for the following morning. And what a frustrating ending it was. Frustrating for Addie... and for Henry. I MUST know what happens!!! It can not end this way! UGH!
The three main players:
Addie, absolutely adored her! I cannot even begin to imagine what she went through living 300 years and never having anyone really see her or remember her. She really was “invisible“. But to me she was very memorable!
Henry - I think I adored him just as much, if not a tiny bit more than Addie herself! He was truly a beautiful human being and he definitely deserved so much more than what he had.
Luc was a fantastic manipulating bad guy. He was very convincing and I hated him every second of the book!
This was probably one of the more original books I’ve read in a very long time. I loved the time hopping as I am a fan of historical fiction, and I did love those parts but… I think I loved the Addie of today the best.
I thought it was all very well done. And while sad, devastating even at times, and parts of it made me angry and ripped my heart to shreds. There were also times when my heart leapt for joy! I definitely had all the feels while reading this.
The moral of the story - don't make a deal with the devil!
*** My daughter and I did a "book swap". I recommended a book to her and she recommended a book for me. This was the book she recommended to me. I think she knows me well and knows what I will like. :-)
