My Review: I did not realize that this was the second book in a series, that being said... It didn't really matter at all. The Author did a real fine job of catching you up. I didn't feel like I really missed anything. Being part of a series though it does kind of leave you hanging at the end. So... great, now I have to read the third book to find out what happens! Which I will do gladly.
Charlie, the main character in this book was kind of like a teenage James Bond. This was a very exciting, "on the edge of your seat" kind of book! I really enjoyed it - I gave it 4 stars. The character development was very good. Even though there were a lot of people, you do get to know everyone. In between the adventure parts there were flashbacks, these were very touching and heartfelt. I actually had a tear in the middle of the book. I thought this was very well put together and very well thought out.
This is labeled a YA (young adult) book but I really think anyone would enjoy it, male or female, young or older. Very easy to read and easy to follow. There is no swearing or sexual content, so I would recommend it to younger readers as well.
I have not read anything by this Author before. He has written many books, so I will have to check out some of his others.I would like to eventually give this book away but I think I will wait till the third book comes out (Nov. 2010) then give them both away at once.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Thomas Nelson Publishers as part of their BookSneeze.com http://BookSneeze.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
