Friends and Family interview #2

Jen and I have been friends now for ... a year and a half? We started out as book blogger friends. I had been posting lots of pictures on my other blog (itsJUSTme) and Jen said that she would love to take a trip up here with her husband sometime. So they planned the trip and I planned to meet them for the first time. That was last fall and we have been friends ever since! Jen and I have so  much in common. We hit it off right away. My hubby works and stays in PA while he is working and She just happens to live just an hour from his apt. So whenever I go down to visit him, Jen and I try to get together. She and I text back and forth almost everyday! She is rally a wonderful friend to have. She is a very dedicated friend. I have never told her this but - she is not only a blogger friend anymore. I consider her to be one of my best friends! I told my daughter that she was one of my best friends and she said "Yeah, I'm not surprised." LOL.

1. How long have you lived in your area?
I moved to the area for college almost exactly 11 years ago and never left. It still amazes me sometimes when I think about how long I've been here.

2. What are the best things about living there and what are the worst?
Oh my, well there's a lot to like about the area. I like that two of my friends are within walking distance of my house. I like that I've found friends at a local bookstore that holds book clubs. And you have that awesome used bookstore like just around the corner from you! I like anything to do with water so I'm thrilled to live close to a river. I like not having to drive hours to find a spot to kayak. I like driving along the river at night and seeing lights reflecting off the water. I like that certain times of the year I get to see gorgeous sunrises over the river on my way to work. I could continue but I'll spare you ;) You do live in a very beautiful area! I don't think people realize just how beautiful PA is.
The worst thing is being so close to neighbors. I wish we had more land and  more privacy.

3. What is your favorite food to eat? And what is your favorite food to cook?
I love pizza My fav. too! and potatoes. And Triscuits and cheese  ;-) I don't really enjoy cooking Yay! A woman after my own heart. See we do have a lot in common!

4. What is your favorite smell or scent?
I love the smell of food cooking on the grill, the smell of brownies (or other sweets) baking in the oven, and most of all I love the smell of campfires and roasted marshmallows. Hmmm, like food a little bit do ya?

5. If you were given a week and all the money you need - how would you spend it?
The possibilities are endless but here are a few things. I'd pay off all of mine and hubby's debt, buy us a nice house, buy my 'rents a house, give my rents money to stash away for their medical bills, etc., plan and pay for a kick butt vacation, go shopping (of course), start up my own bookstore/coffee shop/news stand, (where I would come and visit every day!) and start a book related non-profit organization. Ahhh good idea!

6. What is the last music you listened to (and be honest!)?
I heard Chalk Outline by Three Days Grace on the way back to the office after lunch. My car is always tuned to Octane on Sirius satellite radio…all rock music all the time \m/ MMM I can't remember if I like them, I will have to look them up. I think I do like them.

7. If you could give one million dollars to one charity, what would it be? and why?
That's a tough question since there are so many deserving charities. If I had to choose I would go with a charity for diabetes research. It may not seem like the worst disease in the world and honestly some levels of it can be controlled with diet and exercise but at the same time I've seen how it can also wreak havoc on someone's body. It's like a domino effect and can cause so many other problems.

8. What is the one thing around the house that you hate doing?
Only one?! How about two? Cheater Yard work and cleaning floors (vacuuming, etc.)

9. What is your favorite thing to do for fun?
I enjoy reading, some crafty type things, watching tv, and spending time with friends.

10. Surprise me!
In my angsty teen years (seriously what teen isn't angsty) I wrote poetry and decided to share what I think is the best one. I actually lost the original poem so I rewrote it a few years ago. Come to think of it I lost most of my poetry. Anyway, this poem is about about…well, I'll let you interpret it for yourself…after all isn't that what poetry is all about?

War of the Roses

One of white; one of red
Entwined in a lifetime of battles
Hearts forever tangled between

Stems twisting together
Thorns perforating
Wisps of life lost with each puncture
Wounds deepen; petals fall

No solutions; no victors
Only aggression and resentment
Engraved in past, present, and future

Awww man thats awesome! Someone hand me a tissue! But seriously, it is wonderful!

This is the best pic. I have of us. We will have to take some more pics. next time I come down!
