After The End - Final discussion

Oh my freakin gosh!!!! This is the first book in a series! I did not know that going into it. Sooooo no answers!

1. I'll start right in here with - did you know that this was only the first book? How do you feel about that? Do you think you will read the next one?
Well I was not happy to find out that this a series. Normally I love series, but I wanted answers, now.
I am not sure if I will read the next one, I guess I have to if I want to find out what happens.

2. Nothing like a bullet to make you decide who's side you're on. What do you think about Miles and his faithfulness or lack of to Juneau throughout the book? Do you think he's dead, or will he come back to life? If he lives do you think he will stay true from now on?
Well I do hope that Miles ends up being OK and for this reason I might actually read the next book, because whats happens to him will throw this story into a tailspin.
I was frustrated with his unfaithfulness. I mean - teenage boy meats decent looking girl... come on Miles get your act together. Your father will always bve your father but one wrong move and this girl is history!
After all this I do think he is in it for the duration now.

3. What do you think of Tallie? Do you think we've seen the last of her?
I loved Tallie! I do hope she reappears in the next book. I mean she has powers, so she has to have something mor to do in the story, right?

4. "The children were all named after Alaskan towns." If you had children and had to name them all after something, what would it be?
I would name then after country singers LOL
Jackson, Martina, Miranda, Trace, Blake, Carrie

5. What would you do if you were in Juneau's place, If you suddenly found out you had been living a lie your whole life? Who would you even be pissed at? What if they were doing it for your own good, to protect you, would that make a difference?
I actually know someone who lived a lie her whole life! She did not find out until she was way into adulthood that her father was not her father.
But... yeah I'd be pissed, but I am known for being a very easygoing person and very forgiving. So I would be mad at the person for a while then I would prob get over it and get on with life. Living with anger, to me, is worse than living a lie.

6. What did you think of the alternating chapters between Miles and Juneau's perspectives? Have you read books like this before? Do you like it?
I have read several books like this and I actually like it! It really lets you to get to know both characters equally. I just finished a book a while back that alternated between 4-5 characters, and I still loved it!

7. What will happen next? Do you think Juneau will find her tribe? Exactly who is Whit anyway? And who's side is he really on?
So now that the book hasn't ended I have even more questions! I think that Whit now regrets what he has done and may end up flipping sides. The poo will hit the fan and Tallie will come to the rescue (since she can "see"). I think at the very end Juneau will find her tribe. And Miles and Juneau end up "together".

  1. 1. I'll start right in here with - did you know that this was only the first book? How do you feel about that? Do you think you will read the next one?
Well I'm pissed!!! Did not know this was a series, not happy that I was left hanging at the end and SO NOT HAPPY that the next book is not even out yet!!!!!

    2. Nothing like a bullet to make you decide who's side you're on. What do you think about Miles and his faithfulness or lack of to Juneau throughout the book? Do you think he's dead, or will he come back to life? If he lives do you think he will stay true from now on?
Miles was just starting to trust and believe Juneau so I really think that given some time, he would have come around completely and been loyal to her for good. I'm wondering what this means for him long term, should he survive. Will he indeed be close to the Yara? If not, will he learn to be? The second book better pick up right where this one left off! I don't want any of that "5 years later" or starting from the end and working backwards crap!

    3. What do you think of Tallie? Do you think we've seen the last of her?
I hope not! I love Tallie!!! I think Amy spend too much time on her to not have her re-appear in the second book.

    4. "The children were all named after Alaskan towns." If you had children and had to name them all after something, what would it be?
Mocha, Java, Bean... just kidding. I would name them all after greek gods and goddesses. Starting with Kaliope of course

    5. What would you do if you were in Juneau's place, If you suddenly found out you had been living a lie your whole life? Who would you even be pissed at? What if they were doing it for your own good, to protect you, would that make a difference?
I don't think pissed is the right word. Betrayed is how I would feel. I think having mom lie to me my whole life would hurt me the most. I would feel like our special bond was fake and that I couldn't trust her ever again. Even if it was for my own good.

    6. What did you think of the alternating chapters between Miles and Juneau's perspectives? Have you read books like this before? Do you like it?
I love it when authors take this approach! It really helps you get to know each character on a personal level! I think more books should be written this way.

    7. What will happen next? Do you think Juneau will find her tribe? Exactly who is Whit anyway? And who's side is he really on?
I have no idea. I am hoping Juneau will find her tribe, but I am wondering what is happening on their end. I think Whit might be in trouble and acting like he is out to get Juneau but really isn't. Why else would he be leaving her all these subtle clues?

    3. "The second book better pick up right where this one left off! I don't want any of that "5 years later" or starting from the end and working backwards crap!" - Oh man, I didn't even think about that! She wouldn't do that would she?

"Mocha, Java, Bean" LOL, of course

    4. My aunt named her kids after Greek goddesses.

  2. 1. I'll start right in here with - did you know that this was only the first book? How do you feel about that? Do you think you will read the next one?
I follow Amy Plum on twitter and saw the title of the second on pop up one day. Otherwise I probably wouldn’t have known about it. As of now I’m not sure if I will read it…maybe I’ll just go to BAM or BN to skim the first chapter to see Miles’ fate LOL

    2. Nothing like a bullet to make you decide who's side you're on. What do you think about Miles and his faithfulness or lack of to Juneau throughout the book? Do you think he's dead, or will he come back to life? If he lives do you think he will stay true from now on?
I have no doubt that Miles will become like Juneau and her clan. Wonder if his dad is desperate enough to use his son for the fountain of youth…that is if he ever finds out…and if Miles doesn’t die (which he wont’)

    3. What do you think of Tallie? Do you think we've seen the last of her?
Tallie is great (and I want her house) and I’m sure her path will cross with Juneau’s again.

    4. "The children were all named after Alaskan towns." If you had children and had to name them all after something, what would it be?
I would name then after country singers LOL
Jackson, Martina, Miranda, Trace, Blake, Carrie  Wendy, you did name one of your kids after a country singer lol! Martina!
I like the city name idea…maybe Little Rock and Tallahassee…oh wait, that’s Zombieland. :-P
But really, I do like some city names but I don’t really ever have to think about the subject too much since I’m not going to have kids

    5. What would you do if you were in Juneau's place, If you suddenly found out you had been living a lie your whole life? Who would you even be pissed at? What if they were doing it for your own good, to protect you, would that make a difference?
I would be so insanely pissed…I’m sure I’d eventually get over it though. I’m sure it was harder for Juneau because of the way she had to find out. It would have been better if they had just explained everything to her. I’m sure they were planning to at some point but obviously it wasn’t soon enough.

    6. What did you think of the alternating chapters between Miles and Juneau's perspectives? Have you read books like this before? Do you like it?
I like it as long as it’s obvious who’s POV we’re reading. I tend to not read chapter titles so reading dual POV books can sometimes be difficult for me. I’ve found that I do really like listening to them as audio though. Especially when the POVs are read by different narrators.

    7. What will happen next? Do you think Juneau will find her tribe? Exactly who is Whit anyway? And who's side is he really on?
she’ll find her tribe, if not then it’s all been for nothing and that’s just not cool. I don’t know about Whit…all I know is that if he is a ‘good guy’ then he has some SERIOUS explaining (and sucking up) to do!!!

    1. I don't read chapter titles either! And I also realized I don't even hear the chapter when i'm listening to audio books. At the beginning of every chapter they announce the chapter number, and I still had to look at my ipod to see what chapter I was on because I kept missing it! lol

    2. I read one book where the chapter titles were a countdown to some mysterious event. Yeah my friend had to tell me half way through the book what was going on. Lol. Glad I was buddy reading that one :-p

    3. "maybe I’ll just go to BAM or BN to skim the first chapter to see Miles’ fate" - That's a good idea!!!!! You do that and then tell me :-)

"Wonder if his dad is desperate enough to use his son for the fountain of youth" - Oooooo good thinking, hmmmm

"Little Rock and Tallahassee…oh wait, that’s Zombieland" - HAHA!!

"I tend to not read chapter titles" - Hm that's funny because I do! I guess I have read enough books where the POV is the title of the chapter or the time zone is the title - so I look.

    4. Lol. Hopefully I remember. May is a ways away.

Aw man, I don't know if is be able to read a book where time ones were listed as the titles. I'd be so confused.

    5. I usually don't read chapter titles either, but in this instance I did for the point of view.

  3. 1. I'll start right in here with - did you know that this was only the first book? How do you feel about that? Do you think you will read the next one?
No, I did not know that this was a series but it didn't surprise me since most books are. I kind of figured that there'll be a second book when I was only 100 pages away and the answers were still unanswered.

    2. Nothing like a bullet to make you decide who's side you're on. What do you think about Miles and his faithfulness or lack of to Juneau throughout the book? Do you think he's dead, or will he come back to life? If he lives do you think he will stay true from now on?
Okay, I started to like Miles. I guess I needed him to get shot for me to like him, lol.
No, I don't think he's dead. He'll come back for the second book but I don't think he'll be the same. Will he be good or bad? Who knows, but he will be different.

    3. What do you think of Tallie? Do you think we've seen the last of her?
I thought Tallie was an interesting character that I really hope that more of her would be explained in the second book.

    4. "The children were all named after Alaskan towns." If you had children and had to name them all after something, what would it be?
I would name my children, if I have any, after my favorite book characters. If I have a son, I want to name him Erik James (Erik for the Phantom of the Opera and James for Outlander). If I have a girl, I want to name her Cosette (Les Miserables).

    5. What would you do if you were in Juneau's place, If you suddenly found out you had been living a lie your whole life? Who would you even be pissed at? What if they were doing it for your own good, to protect you, would that make a difference?
It would be terrible to find out that my whole life was a lie. I think I would cry out of anger and probably seclude myself for a bit. Then I would come to my senses and try to figure out why I was lied to.

    6. What did you think of the alternating chapters between Miles and Juneau's perspectives? Have you read books like this before? Do you like it?
Yes, I have read other books that have done this. Here it was done well because I was not confused on who's perspective we were following. I liked it because we were able to see both Juneau's and Miles' point of views to the situations.

    7. What will happen next? Do you think Juneau will find her tribe? Exactly who is Whit anyway? And who's side is he really on?
I'm not sure what is going to happen next but I have a feeling that Whit is on Juneau's side. He just made bad decisions. I hope Juneau does find her clan because I don't want a third book.
