ABOUT THE BOOK -
Since her husband’s murder two years earlier, life hasn’t been easy for Elle Harrison. Now, at the start of a new school year, the second grade teacher is determined to move on. She’s selling her house and delving into new experiences―like learning trapeze.
Just before the first day of school, Elle learns that a former student, Ty Evans, has been released from juvenile detention where he served time for killing his abusive father. Within days of his release, Elle’s school principal, who’d tormented Ty as a child, is brutally murdered. So is a teacher at the school. And Ty’s former girlfriend. All the victims have links to Ty.
Ty’s younger brother, Seth, is in Elle’s class. When Seth shows up at school beaten and bruised, Elle reports the abuse, and authorities remove Seth and his older sister, Katie, from their home. Is Ty the abuser?
Ty seeks Elle out, confiding that she’s the only adult he’s ever trusted. She tries to be open-minded, even wonders if he’s been wrongly condemned. But when she’s assaulted in the night, she suspects that Ty is her attacker. Is he a serial killer? Is she his next intended victim?
Before Elle discovers the truth, she’s caught in a deadly trap that challenges her deepest convictions about guilt and innocence, childhood and family. Pushed to her limits, she’s forced to face her fears and apply new skills in a deadly fight to survive.

MY THOUGHTS -
Woohoo! I have been waiting for another Elle Harrison Thriller! I just love these books. Merry Jones is a fantastic writer. I fell in love with her after the first book THE TROUBLE WITH CHARLIE and then when ELECTIVE PROCEDURES was just as good I knew I had found another new favorite author.
In the other two books I really liked Elle's friends but in this one I kinda felt sorry for Elle. I was really starting to not like her friends. They were so hard on her, almost to the point of turning against her and being mean. I hated that they never stuck by her or believed her. Of course this does start to change towards the end, but it just made me love Elle even more and determined to be on her side. Another character I really loved was Ty! He seemed very real to me. I really really wanted him to turn out to be the good guy!
Boy this mystery was one crazy ride! It certainly kept me guessing. I had no idea who the killer was, all I knew was that I didn't want it to be Ty. I wanted to believe in him. The ending was a total whacked out surprise!! Excellent ending, totally twisted but excellent!
This book was creepy, twisted and fun (hmm those three don't really belong in the same sentence).
This book can be read as a stand alone, but - if you read this one you are going to want to read the others! I do hope Merry Jones continues with the Elle Harrison books, but I would probably read what ever she come out with. I am a true fan.
